The origin of the Dragon Boat Festival is very short, with 50 words.

Dragon Boat Festival was originally founded by ancient ancestors to worship the ancestors of dragons and pray for evil spirits. It is said that Qu Yuan, a poet of Chu State in the Warring States Period, committed suicide by jumping on the Miluo River on May 5th. Later, people took the Dragon Boat Festival as a festival to commemorate Qu Yuan.

Generally speaking, the Dragon Boat Festival originated from the ancient ancestors' choice of "flying dragons over the sky" as an auspicious day to worship their ancestors and pray for evil spirits, and injected the seasonal fashion of "eliminating diseases and preventing epidemics" into summer. First, eat zongzi.

In 340 BC, Qu Yuan, a patriotic poet and doctor of Chu, faced the pain of national subjugation. On May 5th, he threw a big stone into Guluo River with grief and indignation. In order to prevent fish and shrimp from damaging his health, people have thrown rice in bamboo tubes into the river. In the future, people will put rice in bamboo tubes and throw it into the river to pay homage to Qu Yuan. This is the origin of China's earliest zongzi-"tube zongzi".

Second, dragon boat race.

This is an important custom of the Dragon Boat Festival. The ancient book Jing Chu Sui Ji once said: "Press, I used to vote for Qu Yuan's Miluo Day in the race on May 5, which hurt his death, so I made a boat ride."

Qu Yuan was exiled to the Bank of osawa. His patriotism is beyond reach, so he joined the Miluo River. Later generations revered his loyalty, sympathized with his grievances, and rowed boats on the Dragon Boat Festival to commemorate him. Jing Chu Shi Ji was written in the Liang Dynasty, which was in the same period. It can be seen that this custom has a history of more than 1000 years.
