The origin of Qinhuangdao
It is said that after Qin Shihuang annexed the six countries and unified China, he stepped up the construction of roads, waterways and inspections of counties and counties.
One day, Qin Shihuang was patrolling eastward to the sea, and suddenly someone from Qi State stopped him and asked to see him.
The First Emperor asked: "Why did you stop him?" The people of Qi replied: "Report to your Majesty, there are three fairy mountains in the sea here, one is called "Penglai", one is called "Abbott", and the other is called "Yingzhou".
This fairy mountain disappears and appears. When it appears, the towers and pavilions are faintly visible, and the bells, drums, and pipes are melodious.
The immortals are riding on the clouds. Fluttering; drinking nectar and taking the elixir of immortality.
Your Majesty, if you want to live forever, why not send someone to find some elixir of immortality? "
After hearing this, the First Emperor was half convinced and half doubtful, and immediately issued an edict, ordering the people of Qi to go to the fairy mountain to find medicine.
A few days later, Qi people came back and reported to the First Emperor: "Because of the poor fortune of the villain, the fairy mountain has never appeared. It was a hurricane on the sea that blew us back.
" The First Emperor was displeased after hearing this, but then he thought about it. It seems that I am the only person in the world who wants to talk about blessings and destiny.
Let me go to the seaside and look at the fairy mountains! So they ordered the soldiers to quickly build a palace on the rocks by the sea, and now the ruins are left at Jinshanzui, Beidaihe.
The First Emperor lived in the palace, waiting for the fairy mountain to reappear.
Sure enough, the sky was clear one day, the blue waves were as clear as a mirror, and everything was silent.
Suddenly a glow rose from the sea, and three hills rose in the halo.
I saw faintly visible towers on the top of the mountain, with faint shadows of trees leaning against the clouds, and green mountains stretching for dozens of miles, sometimes like umbrella covers, sometimes like flags, sometimes like floating pictures, sometimes like city corridors, palaces and pavilions. The beast's spine was full of abnormalities and changes, and in nearly half an hour, the fairy mountain disappeared.
The First Emperor was overjoyed when he saw this.
From then on, I firmly believed in the principle of Qi Ren.
He ordered the soldiers to post notices everywhere, recruiting scholars from all over the world to discuss the matter of seeking immortality.
At this time, after seeing this notice, Lu Sheng, an alchemist of Yan State, recommended himself and went to the palace to pay homage to the First Emperor.
Lu Sheng said: "The villain is willing to take his disciples across the sea to obtain the elixir of immortality for the king.
"What are you sure of?" asked the First Emperor.
Lu Sheng replied: "In the past there were two alchemists here, one named Xianmen and the other named Gao Shi. They had become immortals and lived in the Immortal Mountain.
If they knew If you ask for medicine for your Majesty, you will definitely be able to get it.
"After hearing this, the First Emperor was very happy and said hurriedly: "If you can ask for the magic medicine, I will be richly rewarded.
"I wonder when you will leave?" Ji Sheng said, "Your Majesty, please allow me three days to fast and bathe, and to worship the fairy mountain. I also need to buy some jewelry and ritual objects as a gift for our meeting.
In addition, I kindly ask your Majesty to choose a geomantic treasure land for us to enter the sea.
Upon hearing this, the First Emperor said, "Okay!" Then he ordered the soldiers and horses to gather together and choose the location along the east and west roads.
Two days later, the people from the East Road returned to the palace and reported: There is a small island in the sea not far from the Jieshi coast, with a radius of dozens of miles.
The island is surrounded by water, with abrupt hills, clear springs and waterfalls; green pines and cypresses; and dazzling wild flowers on the ground.
Especially the fine sand on that bank is shining with golden light. Walking on it is like stepping on a soft velvet carpet.
Upon hearing this, the First Emperor decided to personally lead his troops and horses to ferry to the island to check it out.
As soon as the First Emperor landed on the island, he couldn't help but admire: "I have traveled around the world's famous mountains and rivers, but I have never seen such beautiful mountains and rivers.
Moreover, the wind here is gentle, the waves are calm, and the sand is The tide is soft and flat, making it easy for ships to sail. This is the place to enter the sea!" So the First Emperor stayed on the island for a night, waiting to enter the sea to seek immortality tomorrow.
Early the next morning, Lu Sheng and his disciples Han Zhong, Hou Gong, Shi Sheng and others were dressed in Taoist attire and were on standby at the beach.
The First Emperor was particularly happy today. He first offered wine to worship the fairy mountain, and then ordered his soldiers to ship jewelry and various fruits collected on the island to serve as gifts to the alchemists.
Subsequently, the decree was issued into the sea.
The boat slowly raised its sails and rode the wind and waves. Qin Shihuang stood on the rocks of the island and watched the boat until it disappeared at the end of the sea and sky.
It is said that Lu Sheng and his disciples wandered on the sea for many days, and they ran out of water and food.
Neither the fairy mountain nor the fairy medicine was found.
They knew that if they turned back empty-handed, they would be guilty of deceiving the emperor and would be cut to pieces.
In desperation, Lu Sheng came up with a plan. He made a charm with yellow satin and wrote on it: "Hu Ye, the one who destroyed Qin", and took his disciple back to the palace.
When he saw the First Empress, he lied that the immortals on the Immortal Mountain had asked him to deliver this to Qin Shihuang immediately without delay.
When Qin Shihuang saw the "immortal book", he felt uneasy. How could he care about seeking immortality? Busily leading his troops back to Xianyang day and night.
Then a large number of migrant workers were recruited, and General Meng Tian was sent to build the Great Wall, which "started from Lintao in the west and ended in Liaodong in the east, winding for more than ten thousand miles, and it was awe-inspiring to the Xiongnu."
Later, people erected a monument on the rock of the island where Qin Shi Huang stood as a memorial, and the monument inscribed "The place where Emperor Qin entered the sea to seek immortality".
And this beautiful island, after many vicissitudes of life, gradually connected with the land, and people named it "Qinhuangdao".
