0 1 Pearl River, formerly known as Yuejiang, is the third longest river in China, with a total length of 2,320 kilometers. Originally a river from Guangzhou to Hekou, it has gradually become the general name of Xijiang River, Beijiang River, Dongjiang River and Pearl River Delta River, located at the junction of Nansha in Guangzhou and Humen in Dongguan.
Rich in hydraulic resources, it is also the river with the smallest sediment concentration among the seven rivers in China. Haizhu Stone is named after the old island in the middle of Guangzhou River, hence the name of Pearl River.
The Pearl River Basin spans Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Guangdong, Hunan and Jiangxi provinces, with numerous tributaries and criss-crossing waterways. It originates from Nanpanjiang River and originates from Maxiong Mountain in the northeast of Zhanyi County, Qujing City, Yunnan Province.
