Maoli is located on the edge of the alluvial plain of the Han River. The terrain transitions from plains to hills. It is higher in the west and lower in the east, and the fields are terraced. The highest altitude of the town is 60.5 meters, and the lowest altitude is 27 meters (located in the center of Changhu Lake).
Maoli is located at about 35°C north latitude, with an annual average temperature of 15.4-17.7°C, an annual precipitation of 1200-1500 mm, an effective accumulated temperature of 5000-6000°C, and a frost-free period of about 300 days. It is suitable for the growth of various crops and disasters. The main weather conditions are heavy rains and storms in summer.
The agricultural water and heat conditions of Mao Li are better, with arable land and water surface accounting for 50% and 45% respectively, and there are more paddy fields on arable land than dry fields. Aquatic products and water chestnuts are two major features. In 2009, the town's total grain output was 388.88 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.6%, and its total oil output was 56,441 tons. The "rice-water chestnut" planting model is promoted. The water chestnut planting area reaches 12,000 acres, with a yield of 3,100 kilograms per mu and a total output of 37,842 tons. It is a famous water chestnut town in the province. Aquatic products and water chestnuts are exported to more than 30 provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions and major and medium-sized cities across the country. "Changhu Brand Water Chestnuts" won the title of Green Food of the Year from 1998 to 2001. Maoli is rich in aquatic resources and is a well-known aquatic town in the city and county. It is also one of the aquatic products distribution centers in Jingchu. It is rich in the "four major fish" and famous and special products such as mandarin fish, eel, crayfish, and crab. The town’s aquaculture water surface reaches 60,000 acres. There are 40,000 mu of natural aquaculture water surface in Changhu Lake and Jiuliang Lake. The four major fishing grounds of Penghu, Nanhu, Song Lake, and Xingfuyuan have 20,000 mu of intensive aquaculture water surface, with an annual fresh fish output of 30,000 mu. tons, with an output value of 198 million yuan. In 2009, new specialized and intensive crayfish breeding bases were built in Jiulianghu, Nanhu, Penghu, Bayiyuan, and Dalugang, which led to a crayfish breeding area of 15,000 acres in the town, with a total output of 1,800 tons, and expanded eel farming demonstrations in cages. The base is 60,000 square meters, and the new tilapia breeding demonstration base is 300 acres.
Pig breeding has achieved breakthrough development, Penghu Ecological Breeding Company has expanded its scale, and Hongyi Breeding Company has been completed and put into operation. The number of pigs sold in the town reached 60,000. There are 3 laying hen breeding communities with more than 10,000 eggs in Jiangxin, Nanyue and Qiaoyuan, with an annual output of 650,000 poultry and 3,200 tons of eggs. The industrial enterprises in the town are mainly agricultural and sideline product processing, transportation and marketing, agricultural support service, and individual and private economies. In 2009, the town achieved a regional GDP of 1.127 billion yuan, accounting for 116% of the annual plan; completed industrial and commercial tax revenue of 1.15 million yuan, accounting for 125% of the annual plan; there were 2 new large-scale enterprises, bringing the total to 4, and the whole year* ** Completed industrial added value of 21.8 million yuan, accounting for 109% of the annual plan; completed urban fixed asset investment of more than 500,000 yuan of 22.5 million yuan, accounting for 136% of the annual plan; per capita disposable cash income increased by 769 yuan year-on-year, reaching 6,290 yuan .
The four large-scale enterprises are as follows: Shayang Guwei Garment Co., Ltd., Shayang County Changhu Garment Co., Ltd., Shayang County Small Farmer Water Chestnut Co., Ltd., and Shayang County Hexiang Rice Industry Co., Ltd. company. The town has convenient water and land transportation, with a total traffic mileage of 71.9 kilometers. Hanyi Highway passes through the territory.
The main roads in the town include Miaozhu Road (county level), Luji Road, Maopeng Road, Liuxu Road, Maochang Road, Jianghan Route, Changhu Route and Jihan Route from the Yangtze River are the main water transport routes. Currently, Maoli Town is upgrading and renovating the second-level highway from Maoji to Jiulianghu Provincial Road, and it is expected that the Shayang section of Zaoqian Expressway will pass through Jiulianghu Village in Zaomaoli Town.

Xiaolongren Water Chestnut Co., Ltd. introduced investment from Qianjiang merchants and reorganized Shayang Liangjiang Food Co., Ltd. Yingshanhong Clothing Co., Ltd. is located in Zhongqiao Village and has installed 6 production lines and 130 sets of clothing equipment. It is a local enterprise with its own brand. Yinhua Firecracker Co., Ltd. covers an area of 15,000 square meters and has a total project investment of 30 million yuan. Changhu Garment Co., Ltd. achieved a total industrial output value of 16.5 million yuan, with an average annual growth rate of 26%; Hexiang Rice Industry Co., Ltd. achieved a total industrial output value of 21.5 million yuan, with an average annual growth rate of 54.1%.
