Brief introduction of Haiyun Temple

Haiyun nunnery, also known as Datu nunnery, was founded in the Ming Dynasty with a history of more than 500 years and was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution. 19821February, buddhist nun was listed as a key cultural relics protection unit in Qingdao. In order to carry forward the national culture, with the strong support from all walks of life, the sifang district Municipal People's Government expanded Haiyun Temple from the original112 square meter to the present 1620 square meter. /kloc-0 started construction in July, 1990, was completed in September, 1999/kloc-0, and officially became a place for religious activities in September, 1994.

Haiyun 'an is an important scenic spot in Sifang folk custom tourist area. It is a famous Ming Dynasty building in Qingdao, covering an area of 800 square meters. Once in the courtyard, surrounded by gray walls, there are main halls, east-west attached halls, east-west wing rooms, bell tower and drum tower. A tall ancient ginkgo tree in buddhist nun is flourishing and the environment is very quiet. The main hall in the nunnery is dedicated to Master Guanyin, and the left and right accessory halls are dedicated to Dragon King, Guan Gong, Bigan, Laojun and Luban respectively. 1923 was rebuilt with a clock and a drum tower. In recent years, there is a square in front of the temple, which is the only Taoist temple in Qingdao to carry out religious activities. Since the completion of Haiyun Temple, incense has been very popular, especially during the temple fair on the 16th day of the first month of each year, eight neighbors from four towns rushed to the temple to burn incense, which was very lively. At the temple fair, the villagers made the most kinds of sugar balls with hawthorn, red dates, yam and oranges, and gradually formed a traditional temple fair featuring sugar balls, which was called Haiyun 'an Sugar Ball Club.
