Quannan has three definitions in Fujian history.

First, Fuzhou was called "Quanzhou" in the Tang Dynasty, and Quannan refers to the south of Fuzhou. But this usage has disappeared so far.

The second refers to Quanzhou, which is another name for Quanzhou. Quanzhou culture is also called Quannan culture.

Third, it refers to the area outside the south gate of Quanzhou, generally referring to Jinjiang, Shishi and parts of Nan 'an, also known as "Jinnan".

In addition, there is another city in Japan called Jeonam.
