Why isn’t the car heater hot? How to determine what the cause is?
There are two reasons why the car's heating system is not hot. Let's take a closer look at the reasons and how to deal with them.
There are two reasons why the car heater system is not hot: one is caused by the engine cooling system, and the other is caused by poor operation of the heating control mechanism. When performing repairs, you must first determine what the cause is, and then perform corresponding repairs. The judgment method is very simple: look at the temperature of the two water inlet pipes of the small heater water tank. If both pipes are hot enough, it means there is a problem with the air volume control mechanism. On the contrary, if both water pipes are cold, or one is hot and the other is cold, it indicates a problem with the cooling system.
Possible problems in the cooling system
If the thermostat is always open or the thermostat is opened too early, the cooling system will undergo a large cycle prematurely and the external temperature will be very low. Especially when the car is running, the cold air will quickly cool the antifreeze, the engine water temperature will not rise, and the warm air will not generate heat. The water pump impeller is damaged or missing, resulting in insufficient flow of warm air through the small water tank and heat cannot come up. There is air resistance in the engine cooling system, which causes poor circulation in the cooling system, resulting in high water temperature and excessive hot air. If there is always air in the cooling system, it is possible that the cylinder gasket is damaged and the air flows to the cooling system; if the water inlet pipe of the small heater water tank is very hot and the water outlet pipe is very cold, the small heater water tank should be blocked and replaced.
Problems with the air volume control mechanism
If the air volume is insufficient or the hot and cold air is not well distributed, the heat in the small warm air water tank will not be dissipated and the temperature of the warm air will not rise. At this time, first check whether the filter is dirty and blocked, clean it, and replace it in time if necessary. 2. Check the operation of each gear of the fan. Each gear should reach sufficient speed. If the knob is adjusted to the hot air position, the air volume is large enough, the wind direction is normal, and cool air blows out, check whether the hot air box that controls the flap cable for hot and cold air falls off, whether the warm air impeller is damaged, whether it falls off, etc. After the fault is corrected, the warm air will heat up.
What should I do if the warm air is not hot? Because the car's heating system has not been used for a long time, it is inevitable that there will be many minor problems. As a car owner, you can do the following steps first: check the hot and cold windshield to see if the air conditioner is adjusted to the hot windshield; then check the electronic fan temperature control switch; and also check the water temperature regulator. If it still doesn't work, you need to hire a professional master.
