Heluo Story: Jiaying Temple’s “Little Imperial Court”
Introduction: According to legend, at the southern foot of the Taihang Mountains and in the territories of Meng, Wen, and Wu on the north bank of the Yellow River, there is a loess mausoleum belt that is intermittent and winding. People call it Qingfeng Ridge. It is an earth dragon. It goes east from the Yellow Emperor's Mausoleum in Shaanxi Province, crosses the Yellow River, and gradually reveals its body in a place where there are no rocks. It dived across the Qinhe River from Chengzi, Caoting, Fengling and other villages in Wuzhi County. The land it passed was all raised. After that, it went eastward to the current location of Jiaying Temple. The sky above this place is surrounded by purple air and dazzling colorful clouds. , has the appearance of a true dragon emperor.
The news reached Beijing, and Emperor Yongzheng sent an imperial envoy to make an unannounced visit. The imperial envoy noticed the auspicious sign and immediately reported it to Yongzheng. Emperor Yongzheng, who was worried about the flood of the Yellow River and the people's livelihood, was very panicked after receiving the memorial, and immediately ordered the construction of the Dragon King Temple to intercept this feng shui.
It is said that hundreds of years ago, probably during the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty, a long hillock suddenly grew up on Qingfeng Ridge. The east end was huge, and two relatively symmetrical large willow trees grew out. The waist is stretched toward the northeast. At the easternmost end, on both sides of a protruding rectangular ridge, two identical large round stone balls not far apart and symmetrical appeared on the ridge, large and small in a fan shape. The clay is fast, touching the ground in the east and rising in the west. I don’t know when several small mounds of earth appeared at the same time on the north and south sides, connected to the mounds. Looking from a distance, it looks like a crouching dragon crawling from southwest to northeast. People were curious and rushed to watch.
At that time, there was no Yellow River embankment or temple in Jiayingguan. This place is an official road extending in all directions from south to north.
On the east side of the official road there is a tea shed named Zhang. The couple runs their own business. Guests who are on their way to rest will rest in this place. Because of their excellent service and kindness, people spread their character widely.
One day, an experienced traveler passed by this place. He also heard about it and came to beg for a bowl of tea. After the old man drank the tea, he was impressed by the refreshing taste and fragrance of the tea. He then prayed for a blessing to the couple and said, "The descendants of your family will definitely have a high official, at least a prince-like figure." After hearing this, the couple laughed and said, "Where can we get this blessing?" "Come on, we have been married for many years and we don't have a son or a daughter. How can we talk about future generations?" The old man said seriously: "You will definitely have a son within five years after I leave." The son is classified as a dragon. However, even your husband will die early. After his death, he will be buried quietly behind the tea shed, just don't wear any clothes or shoes. This is a secret! It will lead to death!"
Five years later, this woman was pregnant with Liujia. Unexpectedly, her husband died suddenly at night. The woman quietly dug a pit and buried her husband.
The news quickly spread to Beijing. At that time, the Qing Dynasty had just entered the country and had not yet established a firm foothold in Beijing. As soon as they heard the news, "When the earth dragon appears, the emperor will appear." In their opinion, a little emperor must emerge from the bank of the Yellow River in Wuzhi. Isn't this a competition with us for supremacy? If we can't find him, how can we? Some ministers were called together and held an emergency meeting, deciding to destroy this so-called small court as soon as possible. Therefore, they invited an expert from outside the country who knew both astronomy and geography, yin and yang, and Feng Shui to understand the caves, and hired him as the great national master of the Qing Dynasty.
But soon, a mysterious figure came to this place while watching Feng Shui along the Taihang Mountains. Because they knew that a little prince-like figure was about to be born in this place outside the pass, so they came to destroy it. . When they entered the customs and had just established a foothold in Beijing, they hurriedly came in the direction of the Central Plains.
But in such a huge place, where do they start?
The Grand Master climbed the Dahang Mountain, looked south, and felt that it should appear in the southwest, because the smoke and clouds above the Yellow River made it difficult to see clearly and to determine the direction; he climbed up the Mang Mountain again. From the small south top of the mountain, he looked north for a long time. At this time, he seemed to see a yellow dragon coming from the southwest, roaring and galloping toward the northeast.
He hurriedly mobilized Qing troops from the capital and gathered in front of the hillock on Qingfeng Ridge. They ordered the soldiers to dig three feet into the ground and plow the land as they went. After searching for three days and three nights, I found nothing. At dawn on the fourth day, a Han Chinese soldier among the Qing soldiers who had rebelled finally found a soil hole more than a foot wide in the northeast direction of the large pit excavated.
When the great national master saw it, he shouted: "Just dig in this direction. Sooner or later, his path will be broken."
The soldiers started digging again, and they followed this direction all the way. The cave was dug to the west end of what is now Nanjia Village. The cave is gone and there is red new soil everywhere.
The Grand Master grabbed a handful of new soil, put it to his nose, smelled it, and said, "This was just dug out. It's nearby." But there was nothing nearby, and there were no signs. They cannot return without success.
There was really no other way, so the Grand Master decided to build a Dayu Pavilion, which was highly respected by the Han people, at the west end of Nanjia Village. This could be regarded as a way to suppress him and suppress his prestige.
On the fifth day, new marks were found on the east wall of the large pit they dug at the east end of Nanjia Village. They decided to dig in this direction.
When passing through a series of water villages, in order to control the situation, they built Amitabha Temple and Yanqing Temple.
Always following the direction of the cave, they crossed the ancient Yellow River Road and bypassed a large earthen valley, near the Jiaying Temple at the three-fork intersection of the east end of Erpuying. When we arrived at this place, we found nothing new.
The Grand Master counted on his fingers and said: "Dig down another three feet and search within a radius of 200 feet. It's around here. It can't be wrong."
