Qingxu County tourist attractions: Qingxu Yao Temple
It was called Taotang City in ancient times, and there is no evidence of its original construction. The temple faces south, 60 meters long from north to south and 70 meters wide from east to west, with a total area of 4,200 square meters. The existing buildings include Emperor Yao Hall, Jiulian Cave, Empress Hall, Fox Fairy Tower, Sutra Library, Le Taiwan, etc. Among them, the Emperor Yao Hall was built in the Ming Dynasty, and the rest were built in the Qing Dynasty. It is named because the clear spring in front of the temple flows day and night. It was first built in the 24th year of Yuan Zhizheng (1365) and was repaired many times during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The temple is built on the mountain and is divided into three courtyards. The main buildings include the Main Hall, Guanyin Pavilion, Main Hall, Wufu Cave, Jiulian Cave, etc.
The main hall is five rooms wide and three rooms deep. It has a single eaves on the top of the mountain. There are three main Buddha statues in the center of the hall, and there are more than 20 wooden statues around them. Guanyin Pavilion is a double-story pavilion-style building with double eaves on the top of the mountain. The lower floor is surrounded by corridors. The upper floor has a lotus platform with Buddha Guanyin sitting on it, and under the lotus platform there are statues of the four heavenly kings. Commonly known as Wuliang Temple, it was founded in the first year of Jin Mingchang (1190) and was repeatedly repaired during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The temple is built on the mountain. The main buildings are three beamless stone halls, arranged from east to west, namely the Ksitigarbha Hall, the Sakyamuni Hall and the Guanyin Hall. Covering an area of approximately 3,600 square meters. The outer eaves of the three main halls are all made of imitation wood and stone components. The four corners of the hall are carved with single warped bucket arches. The roof of the hall is made of glazed stone beams stacked layer by layer from large to small to form an octagonal caisson. Also known as Dugou Grottoes. According to the records of Qingyuan County, the cave was dug on October 15th in the third year of Yuanyou of Song Dynasty (1088). During the Shaosheng period of the Northern Song Dynasty (1094-1098), Ciyun Zen Temple was built outside the cave, forming a combination of a worship cave and a nearby grotto temple. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, it was renamed Yanxiang Temple. Since then, many additions have been made, including Yuquan Pavilion, Luohan Hall, Dragon King Temple, Guanyin Pavilion and other buildings. Now the temple has been abandoned, leaving only five small caves and one monument rebuilt in Ciyun Temple in the 21st year of Jiajing reign of Ming Dynasty (1542).
The grotto faces south, with two caves in the east and west excavated on the cliff face that are 10 meters long and 5 meters wide. Only a large sample of the West Grotto has been excavated and has not yet been completed. The East Cave is called Thousand Buddha Cave, with a width of 5 meters, a depth of 3 meters, and a height of 3 meters. It is square in plan, with three walls and three niches. Both sides of the cave door are carved with square columns, and there are door beams, pointed arch lintels, a ceiling, and a caisson in the center. There are sculptures of one Buddha and two Bodhisattvas on the three walls, wearing shoulder-length cassocks. The Buddha sits in the lotus position, making a Dharma seal. The Bodhisattva wears a flower crown on his head and a tassel on his neck. The statue has a delicate face and handsome figure, with a strong Song style. There are more than 1,200 small Buddha statues in relief on the wall, connected with branches. There are three more caves on the cliff behind the main hall of the temple. The statues have been destroyed. The middle cave was opened on October 11th in the third year of Yuanyou. The inscription of the completion of the work on July 6th in the fourth year of Yuanyou is still clearly visible. It is a grotto. Dating provides conclusive evidence. Qingxu Baishigou Ecological Tourism Area is located in Yingfeng Village, 2.5 kilometers northwest of Qingxu County. It is a national ecological ditch. The scenic area has beautiful mountains and clear waters, and stretches of grape fruits. There are many ancient cultural relics buildings from the Tang and Song Dynasties, such as the Mahu Temple and the Manjusri Pagoda, as well as nearly 10,000 acres of grape corridors. Taoyuan, pine and cypress gardens and 6,000 acres of water resources complement each other. It is a collection of cultural relics and ornamental sites. Agriculture, tourism and leisure are integrated into a unique and charming humanistic and natural landscape.
