Can cat food be brought into the country?

Cat food is not allowed to be brought into China.

As dog food, cat food, fish food and other pet foods are included in the list of prohibited items, they are not allowed to enter the country. There are only two ways to deal with the seized goods, one is to return them and the other is to destroy them.

According to the Entry-Exit Animal and Plant Quarantine Law of People's Republic of China (PRC), passengers who bring controlled articles into the country should go through the relevant inspection and quarantine examination and approval procedures before entering the country, declare to the department and accept quarantine, and provide relevant supporting documents, otherwise they are not allowed to bring them into the country.

The port animal and plant quarantine office may exercise the following functions and powers when conducting quarantine:

(1) Carrying out quarantine inspection by boarding a ship, a vehicle or a plane in accordance with the provisions of this Law;

(2) Entering ports, airports, railway stations, post offices and places where quarantine objects are stored, processed, bred and planted for quarantine inspection, and taking samples according to regulations;

(three) according to the needs of quarantine, enter the relevant production, warehouse and other places for epidemic monitoring, investigation and quarantine supervision and management;

(4) consulting, copying and extracting operation logs, waybills, contracts, invoices and other documents related to quarantine objects.
