Why do dogs suffer from heatstroke and how to deal with it?

First of all, the ambient temperature is too high and overheated. In summer, poor ventilation at home, thick dog hair and closed and stuffy carriages are all common causes of heatstroke. Secondly, the weather is hot and the direct sunlight is strong. Dogs exposed to high temperature or direct sunlight for a long time can cause heatstroke. Finally, in summer, dogs carry out high-intensity activities or training, which leads to heatstroke due to lack of water and accumulated heat in the body. In addition, prolonged indwelling of tracheal intubation during anesthesia, cardiovascular and genitourinary diseases, and obesity will also hinder heat dissipation and cause heatstroke.

Three main points to avoid heatstroke in dogs

1, never let the dog stay in a car without air conditioning. Even if you stay in the sun for a few minutes, the temperature inside the car will rise sharply to the point of hurting the dog. If you have to leave your dog in the car, make sure the air conditioner in the car is on, even if it is short.

2. Provide a cool rest area for your dog. This area needs ventilation and cooling. If it is in the hottest time of the day, the air-conditioned place is most suitable for dogs.

3. Ensure that dogs can drink cool and clean water conveniently. It is best to keep the water in a cool place, and change it frequently, otherwise it will easily breed bacteria and even insects. When you travel with your dog, make sure you have water (calculated by daily 1 gallon) and a plate for the dog to drink at any time.
