Where is the Huawa Temple Tower in Lixian County?
Huawa Temple Pagoda, also known as Pagoda Pagoda and Huawa Pagoda, has maintained the tower-building technology in the early Northern Song Dynasty and is well preserved, reflecting the tower-building technology in southern China. It is an important stupa in the early Song Dynasty and the only well-preserved brick pagoda in the province. 1959, Huawa Temple Pagoda was announced as a provincial-level cultural relics protection unit, and in May 20 13, it was approved and announced as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council.
Huawa Temple Pagoda is a pagoda of the original Huawa Temple, with a height of 74 meters. The tower base is east-west, and the plane is octagonal. It is a seven-story solid brick tower with dense eaves, with a total height of 22 meters and a bottom diameter of 5.5 meters. The tower is built on an earth platform and has an inverted cone-shaped tower foundation. A brick arch is arranged on the north side of the base, which communicates with the underground palace. The arch is 0.9m wide, 1.95m high and 1.05m deep. An octagonal caisson is built at the top of the underground palace. Leaning columns are built at the tower corner, and lotus petals are built at the bottom of each layer of waist eaves to support the waist eaves. The upturned angle at the corner of the waist eaves looks like a bird's wing, and a glass bottle gate is placed at the top of the tower. There is a niche on the east and west sides of the first floor, and there is a niche for Buddha statues on each floor above the second floor.
According to local legend, the tower was built by Weichi Gong in Tang Dynasty, and Huawa Temple was built around the tower in Ming Dynasty. The records of pagodas in Zhili Prefecture are not very detailed, only "Pagoda Temple, with loose boundaries, was built in Song Dynasty, and Li Xuanjian Temple was built in Jingtai (1450- 1457)". There were several stone tablets on both sides of the original tower, but they were destroyed in the construction of basic farmland. In 20 10, a stone tablet was found nearby, which was used to repair the tower in the 11th year of the Republic of China (1922). Unfortunately, there is no description about the origin of the tower, so the exact date of construction and origin of the tower have been lost.
