In the Song Dynasty, Quanjiang County was established and changed to Suichuan County in 1914. The county seat is in the north of Suichuan River, and Suishui is also called Longquan River.
On February 15, 1986, Wutian Township was abolished and Wutian Town was established (Ganfu Tingzi [1986] No. 64 Approval).
