A good place to escape the summer heat in Henan, drive to Laojieling and spend a few days of leisurely and cool vacation

There is a summer resort in Henan. It is said that the temperature here is more than 20 degrees in summer, and it still snows in April! This is Laojieling, located on the upper part of the southern slope of Funiu Mountain in Nanyang, Henan.

The Funiu Mountains are huge in scale and extremely high and majestic. They are mainly granite mountains. The Laojieling Ecological Tourism Zone is located on the main peak of Funiu Mountain and is the core area of Nanyang Funiu Mountain World Geopark.

The name Laojieling is said to have a deep meaning.

Lao, it is said that Laozi once practiced and lived in seclusion in Laojieling, and was in charge of praying for the safety of Funiu Mountain in the eight hundred miles and turned into a stone (mountain god).

Laojie Ridge is an east-west mountain range in China, dividing the climate between the north and the south.

Laojie Ridge is the watershed between the Yangtze River and the Yellow River basin, so it is called Laojie Ridge.

We set off from the cabin in the mountain villa early in the morning and went directly to the ropeway to take the ropeway up the mountain. The cableway is more than 1,000 meters long and takes more than 10 minutes one way.

It’s so cool to occupy a private room by yourself. If you don’t have time for ventilation, you can open the windows on both sides. It feels very cool instantly. When you get to the mountain, you find that the ropeway starts to get steeper. It’s really cool. Very exciting!

Arriving at the end of the ropeway, as soon as I walked out of the exit, I was instantly shocked by the mountain scenery in front of me! Directly in the distance is the tip of the main peak, which is more than 2,000 meters above sea level and is the highest among the peaks.

Why is it called Horn Point? It is famous because the peak looks like a singing rooster from a distance. There is a pavilion just at the top of the mountain. The welcoming pine trees happen to be facing the tip of the horns, as if they are greeting each other.

Looking to the right, there is also a pavilion hidden in the forest, which is even more pleasant.

The climbing route of Laojieling is a figure 8 with no turning back. You can see all kinds of strange scenery along the way. For example, this flying stone looks like a tengu!

This sword is even more lifelike when sheathed!

There is another famous must-visit point in Laojieling which is the watershed.

The watershed is also called the Fengshui Ridge. Half of it flows into the Yangtze River Basin in the south and the other half flows into the Yellow River Basin in the north. It is said that when standing on the high platform of the watershed, there is a constant wind blowing on the left, but there is no wind at all on the right. This is indeed a magical natural phenomenon.

This is also a great viewing platform. At the corner of this cliff, it looks like a sailboat about to sail away.

In the Laojieling Scenic Area, in addition to the various uncanny natural landscapes in the mountains, tourists can also find some internet celebrity check-in spots suitable for taking photos.

A 10-minute walk from the cableway, there is a heart-shaped woven seat through which you can see the view of the peak on the opposite side of the mountain.

Similarly, continuing forward, there is a picture frame display in a place, and you can also see the scenery of the opposite mountain peak through the picture frame.

Of course, Laojieling also has a thrilling Internet-famous glass bridge found in various mountains. This glass bridge spanning between two peaks looks very thrilling from a distance. Standing on the bridge, you can also see tourists hiking on the mountain path under the bridge.

I have already introduced to you the good places for tourists to check in. In fact, there are many good places. The Laojieling Scenic Area is still under expansion and maintenance, and you should be able to visit it together in the near future. It's Sawtooth Peak and Camel's Hump.

You can imagine the appearance of these two scenery just by looking at their names, but when you actually see them appear in front of your eyes, you marvel at how they can be so lifelike!

The Sawtooth Peak looks like sharp shark teeth, with layers upon layers of mountains. In fact, you still need to rely on the angle to see the head and body of the camel's hump.

If you are tired from hiking, why not go to Genting Coffee in the mountains and take a rest while watching the scenery!

Because the cafe is located at an altitude of 1830 in the mountains, it is called 1830 Genting Coffee. The log design has a forest atmosphere.

Of course, the most lovely thing is the large floor-to-ceiling windows facing the cliff, facing the famous glass bridge and the mountain scenery. If you are afraid of heights, don’t sit close to the window.

The coffee here is also made with a professional coffee machine, and the taste is not inferior to the coffee shops in the city. The main reason is that this kind of view is not something you can see casually.

Although I really hope that it is surrounded by clouds and mist, it really feels like being in Genting. It really depends on fate.

In addition to coffee, there are also juice drinks, giving tourists more choices. It is definitely worth checking in!

The cafe is located directly below the ropeway after going up the mountain. It can be reached in 5 minutes by walking on the mountain trail.

When it comes to where to stay, there are actually many B&Bs in the scenic area to choose from. I stayed at the Laojieling Summer Resort. There are a variety of environmental room types to choose from. Of course, my most recommended one is to stay in a log cabin that is a bit original and cute.

Originally I thought it was just a room designed in a wooden house, but in fact it was almost like living in a small villa by myself!

The room is surrounded by green trees. If you are lucky, you may even see a happy little squirrel jumping past you!

When you stay in a room, you actually have this whole environment. You can take pictures of various wooden houses, corridors, and balconies, as long as you don't disturb the guests staying there.

Moreover, the housing area of the wooden house is very large. The area A where we are located is scattered among the mountains, which looks very random. If you have a lot of friends and want to be closer together, you can choose Area B, which has a neater layout.

The interior of the room is also all wooden. It is not too hot in summer and just needs a fan. In winter, there is floor heating.

What to eat in the villa? There is not only a buffet restaurant, but you can also go to the Forest Bar restaurant to enjoy a meal full of ingredients, including chicken nuggets and ribs. You can also add vegetables to it after eating. Wait for the ingredients to cook and eat.

What’s even more interesting is that you can watch performances by ethnic minorities while eating. In addition to singing and dancing, there is also an exciting fire show. They are all professionally trained and cannot be performed by ordinary people!

Of course, you won’t be bored at night in the mountains. There are various performances, the entire wooden house area is lit up with colorful neon lights, and there are also cool laser light effects.

There are also performances by ethnic minorities in the square, making your vacation more enriching.

It is recommended to rent a car and drive by yourself. It takes about 3 hours to drive from Luoyang and about 3 hours from Xi'an.

There are many mosquitoes, so remember to bring anti-mosquito items.

It is cold in the morning and evening, so you need Prepare warm clothes, especially if you plan to watch the night sky.

Guests staying at Laojieling Villa Villa can drive directly to the accommodation area or drive directly to the parking lot under the cableway entrance, which is very convenient .
