In 1988, Aihua's parents settled in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China. From then on, the 7-year-old Aihua and her sister, who were 2 years older than her, received Chinese-style basic education and began their primary school careers. Influenced by their mother's passion for Chinese culture, the sisters joined the Nanjing Little Red Flower Art Troupe to study Chinese opera. This also laid the foundation for Aihua's later career in acting. At that time, the two sisters were named Ai Jiang and Ai Su respectively because of their cross talk performance "I Love Jiangsu". Later, when they performed the cross talk "I Love East China", they were named Ai Hua and Ai Dong in the cross talk.
In 1995, due to his father's work, Aihua's family moved to Beijing. The two sisters who were studying the art of Chinese cross talk changed their names to Aizhong and Aihua; not long after, this blond-haired "Dr. Tea" appeared in the "Yixiao Tea Garden" column of CCTV's "Zhengda Variety Show". The little American girl who "loves China" has begun to enter the hearts of Chinese audiences.

Personal life
The first thing I do when I get up every morning is to make a cup of tea. I really like the episode "Angel" from "City of Angels"; Epworth's third A dream lover is her father;
She said: If I travel, I like Scotland very much. My family is of Scottish descent and I visited once when I was ten years old. I am a bit jealous of my sister, because she is very good at taking care of others and has been a model sister since she was a child. hehe. My favorite city in China is Nanjing. I remember attending the Feitian Award Ceremony with my sister in Nanjing. We performed cross talk that time. Because it was broadcast live, I was extremely nervous. I went to the toilet before going on stage. Before I was finished, an aunt opened the door and said to me, my daughter wants to take a picture with you. I said, "Wait a moment, okay?" She said, "Okay, okay, we like you very much." She chatted with me while I was going to the toilet.
Because of her parents’ work, 7-year-old Aihua and her sister came to China in 1988. In the past 16 years, except for returning to the United States to study for four years in college, Aihua has been in China. No wonder she can speak such standard Mandarin, and even her movements have an oriental charm.
When they first came to China, they lived in Nanjing. My mother hopes that the sisters can integrate into Chinese culture and has been thinking about ways to make the sisters like Chinese culture. It happened that the Golden Autumn International Fair was held in Nanjing that year. Because it was an international conference, English hosts were needed at the opening and closing ceremonies. The organizer's idea was to select two children from the Nanjing Little Red Flower Art Troupe to announce the curtain. Correspondingly, We need to find two foreign children to announce the curtain in English.
Aihua said: "There were very few foreigners in Nanjing at that time, and even fewer children. They didn't have much to choose from. We were the only two sisters." In this way, during rehearsals and performances , the two sisters became familiar with the teachers of the Little Red Flower Art Troupe, and their mother asked the teacher if they could let the sisters come to the art troupe to learn singing? The teacher happily agreed, and the two sisters entered the Little Red Flower Art Troupe to study opera and rehearsed the "opera chorus", and they became familiar with the stage. From singing the Henan opera "Mulan" to singing the folk song "Jasmine", the two sisters learned the most local art in China.
When they were teenagers, they learned cross talk from two teachers from the Jiangsu Provincial Song and Dance Ensemble. Once during a cross talk on Jiangsu TV station, there was a burden in the cross talk. I asked the two sisters what their names were. The sisters' answers were "Ai Jiang" and "Ai Su", which together mean "Ai Jiangsu". After shouting "Ai Jiang" and "Ai Su" for a while, in 1993, at the Spring Festival Gala of the five provinces in East China, the two sisters performed this cross talk again, in which "Ai Jiangsu" was changed to "Ai East China". His stage names also changed to "Aihua" and "Aidong".
Later, when they performed at a CCTV party, the director asked them what their names were. They said they would call them "Aihua" and "Aidong", but the director said, no, how can they still call them "Aihuadong" when they get to CCTV? Let’s just change the name to “Love China”. In this way, they were called "Aizhong" and "Aihua" on the dressing room list. Aihua liked this name very much and has continued to use it to this day.
Aihua spent her elementary and middle school years in China. There are no international schools in Nanjing there. She and her sister went to ordinary Chinese schools. However, in order not to lose their mother tongue, she and her sister would go to school in the morning to "listen" to classes and learn Chinese speaking and speaking, and then go home to study American language with their mother in the afternoon. Correspondence courses in primary schools.
When he went to school on the first day, it was February and it was very cold in Nanjing. Aihua wore a pair of suspenders and two or three sweaters outside, wrapping himself up tightly to go to school. During recess, she wanted to go to the toilet but didn't know where it was, so the teacher asked a classmate to accompany her.
Unexpectedly, more than thirty girls in the class followed them. The toilets in the school there were still separated into rooms with no doors. All the female classmates stood in the girls' toilet and watched her go to the toilet. Aihua felt very awkward, but she couldn't speak Chinese. She gestured to the female classmate who took her to the toilet for a long time but couldn't understand what she meant, so she had no choice but to bite the bullet and start taking off her clothes - because wearing suspenders had to cover the outside of her clothes. You have to take off your sweater to untie the straps. Aihua laughed and said, "I guess those classmates were also stupid at that time. Why does this American girl have to take off her clothes when she goes to the toilet?" After taking off her sweater, Aihua's courage was gone. She didn't dare to take it off any more, so she hurriedly She put on her sweater and gestured: "No, I don't need to get on." This episode left Aihua's memory fresh. She said, "Maybe in the 1980s, watching foreign children was like watching aliens. Everyone is so curious about me.”
Aihua started learning Chinese characters after studying in the International Student Department of Beijing No. 55 Middle School in 1995. Before, she only heard about it, so after becoming a host, she started learning Chinese characters. Although I can basically understand the script, there are still some vocabulary words that I need to look up in a dictionary or ask others for help. There were also a lot of jokes because of the language. One day, Aihua went to record "Yixiao Tea Garden". In one of the lines, Aihua said, "Ashamed, ashamed." Aihua was not sure about the pronunciation of these two words, and he neglected to look up the word in the dictionary, so he relied on his own impression.
