Yongzhao Mausoleum
Yongzhao Mausoleum is the burial mausoleum of Song Renzong Zhao Zhen, the fourth emperor of the Northern Song Dynasty. Song Renzong benefited from his first name. He was the sixth son of Song Zhenzong Zhao Heng, the prince in the folklore novel "The Civet Cat for the Crown Prince". Song Renzong was born in the third year of Dazhong Xiangfu (1010 AD). He was established as the crown prince in 1018 and named Zhao Zhen. He ascended the throne in 1022 and died of illness in Kaifeng in 1063 at the age of 53. During the forty-two years of Song Renzong's reign, the country was peaceful and the people were peaceful, civil servants and military officials gathered together, science and culture were developed, and the Song Dynasty reached its peak. According to relevant historical records, in October of the eighth year of Jiayou (1063), Renzong Zhao Zhen was buried in Yongzhao Mausoleum (today's Gongyi City). 46,700 soldiers were mobilized to build the mausoleum. The construction period was 7 months, 500,000 taels of silver and 150 yuan of money were spent.
