Taoism does not have a true teacher.
In Taoism, there are only transmission certificates and refuge certificates. These two certificates are relative to lay disciples. Having one of these two certificates means that you are a lay disciple of Taoism. Those who have a refuge certificate are considered regular lay practitioners. Those who have the transmission certificate are considered to be lay disciples (that is, those who have worshiped the master must have a clear lineage).
Basically every Gongguan Taoist temple or ancestral altar can issue a conversion certificate and a transmission certificate
The unified certificate recognized by the state in Taoism is the Taoist certificate. Having this certificate means that you are a member of the sect and can perform rituals for believers, perform fasting rituals, perform religious rituals, perform incantations, use lightning techniques, etc. Of course, calculating horoscopes, looking at Feng Shui, choosing names, predicting the Book of Changes, etc. are not even a problem. You must have a clear teacher-teacher relationship and have seniority. Of course, you can also accept apprentices. For example, I am the third generation, my master, Zishun, is the Luo generation, and my grandfather, Master Hu Yuchu, is the large generation.
