Wenguang Tower has a long history. It was first built in the first year of Shaoxing in the Song Dynasty (1131 AD), but later collapsed. In the second year of Xianchun (1266), Taoist Zhao Ruchi (yinchichi) rebuilt it and placed thousands of Buddha statues in the pagoda, which was called the "Thousand Buddha Pagoda". collapse. The stele next to the pagoda, "The Monument for the Construction of Wenguang Pagoda by Hou Gongding of Chaoyang Yi", is a precious cultural relic describing the construction of the pagoda. In the 20th year of the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty (1815), Tang Wenzao, the magistrate of Chaoyang County, carried out a comprehensive renovation of the pagoda. It is now inhabited, so it is signed "Yuzhang Tang Wenzao Li". He also inscribed couplets on both sides of the pagoda gate: "Qianqiu's writing pen vibrates the stone, and the hundred-foot ray of light penetrates the bullfight." The font is elegant and floating.
