Jamaica is an island country located in the northwest Caribbean Sea, between 17.42 degrees and 18.31 degrees north latitude and 76.11 degrees and 78.22 degrees west longitude.
Jamaica Island is 234 kilometers long from east to west, 82 kilometers wide from north to south, and has a territory of 11,420 square kilometers, of which 10,991 square kilometers are land area. It is separated from the Jamaica Strait to the east, facing Haiti, and about 145 kilometers from Cuba to the north. It is the third largest island in the Caribbean, with a coastline of 1,220 kilometers. Jamaica is the third largest island in the West Indies, after Cuba and Haiti.
Jamaica’s climate
Jamaica has a tropical rainforest climate, with the rainy season from May to June and September to November every year, with the most showers in January and May. December to March is the dry season, and the weather turns cooler. The half-year period from June to the end of November is a period prone to hurricanes and tropical storms. The central and northern regions have abundant rainfall, and the temperature is generally between 22 and 32 degrees, with the annual average temperature being 27 degrees.
