Ten Legends of Yancheng

According to legend, during the Shang Tang period, there was a catfish (Mi Ɣ n, the ancient name of water, in today's Shandong) in the Wensi Valley on the south side of Mount Tai. Fang Guo, a tribe whose surname is Fang Guo, has a custom of worshipping turtles, so the combination of "Big Turtle" as the country name marks the sublimation of the sacred image of its clan emblem: the turtle family is the election family.

Later, because the Yi people followed Shang Zhou, they were defeated by Zhou Wuwang when they attacked Yin Zhou. Ethnic people moved to the east of Qufu, Shandong Province. Unexpectedly, a few years later, because of his involvement in the "three prisons" rebellion, the country was once again driven away by Zhou Gongdan during his crusade, and the monarch was crippled. The tribe had to support the new king and move to the land of Huai Yi. However, the new king of the Zhou Dynasty became a king, worried that the Yi people still had the heart of rebellion, and wanted to kill them all and then quickly, so he led his troops to personally levy. Xiao Yanjun was helpless and had to take his people to the southeast to escape again.

they fled to the Yangtze river, but were stopped by the surging river. Xiao Yanjun heard the sound of chasing troops getting closer and closer, and he was at a loss. He looked up at the sky and sighed: "Heaven is killing me!" I want to jump into the river and kill myself. At this time, a turtle he carried with him suddenly said, "Don't worry, master!" " Then jump out of the car. This is a weird turtle with six feet, which is rejected by others. It was raised by Xiao Yanjun since childhood. I saw the six-legged turtle quickly climb to the water's edge and craned its neck to drink water. But I heard the water rushing and was sucked into my stomach by the tortoise. As for the tortoise, it grows when it sees water, and soon it will be as big as a square. At this point, the six-legged turtle motioned Xiao Yanjun and his people to stand on its back. Oddly enough, Xiao Yanjun and his clan stood up in turn, but they didn't feel crowded. When the tortoise saw all the people standing up, he told them never to open their eyes.

The hexapod turtle gave a long whistle, and suddenly the wind blew hard, flying sand and stones. The two feet in the middle of the hexapod turtle became a pair of wings 2 feet long, and they flew over the river in the blink of an eye. After landing on the south bank, the six-legged turtle retracted its wings and climbed to the southeast quickly. Although the clan stood firmly on the turtle's back, they just heard the wind in their ears and huddled in fear, and no one dared to open their eyes.

I don't know how long it took, but the six-legged turtle climbed to a swamp wasteland in the south of the Yangtze River and finally collapsed. It stopped and turned to see if there were any pursuers behind it. When it struggled to turn to the northwest, only the endless barren swamp land was relieved. Unexpectedly, it turned around, but it was unable to move any more. After only one incense burner, it died, and its body slowly sank into the wetland, highlighting a turtle-shaped pattern in Fiona Fang.

Xiao Yanjun and his people burst into tears when they saw this. To commemorate the great kindness of the six-legged tortoise, Xiao Yanjun ordered the river to be opened in the shape of a turtle on the ground to build a city, so that the tortoise would stay with the Yi people forever.

Later, the city became a turtle, and the head, tail and six feet of the turtle became eight rivers. The gate of the city was located at the mouth of the turtle, facing the northwest. According to legend, after being rescued by the tortoise to a barren swamp in the south of the Yangtze River, Yan Jun opened a river to build a city according to the tortoise figure. Unfortunately, the amount of work is large, it is very difficult for people to walk in the swamp, and the tools are simple and the labor efficiency is low, so the progress of digging rivers and building cities is very slow. This matter makes it difficult for you to eat and sleep at night.

that night, Mr. Yan was full of worries and thoughts, and he kept thinking hard until the early hours of the morning. In his sleep, he suddenly saw the tortoise covered in wounds and coming from the door. Yan Jun quickly stepped forward and said, "Where do you live?" The tortoise said, "Don't ask. If you can't build a river, you can dig a hole in my stomach, and there are two small turtles to help you. " After that, the tortoise tore open the belly cavity with its claws, and blood immediately flowed. When I saw this, I woke up crying. The next day, Yan Jun dug up in the middle of the turtle-shaped land according to the dream turtle. After half a day's work, I dug two deep caves more than ten feet, and I found two turtles lying in the caves, one yellow and one white. Yan Jun carefully picked up two little turtles. Who knows that these two little turtles grow when they see the wind, and soon they will grow into a square foot, and they will "shout" into the swamp and arch the soil to build a river according to the turtle-shaped pattern.

two little turtles arched and piled up for three days and nights, and finally arched out three circular rivers and built three circular cities. After the prototype of Chenghe River was completed, the two little turtles returned to their original shape and jumped into the two deep caves to lie still.

Later, the people called the two deep caves in Zicheng "Golden Well" and "Jade Well". Legend has it that whenever there is a "seven-sky sky" in the sky, the golden well where the beetle is hiding will be full of drums and glittering. In another Jade Well (also known as Jade Turtle Well), a small white turtle lays an egg every ten days, which is as big as a fist and crystal clear. Eggs accumulate over time and pile up at the bottom of the well, so that the well shines like stars and white jade. It is said that if someone eats this white turtle egg, eating one can cure the disease, two can strengthen the body and three can prolong life. Of course, it is difficult for ordinary people to eat, and only those who have accumulated virtue and great goodness can enjoy it.

these two wells remained for more than 2, years, and they were not lost until Guangxu period. On the west side of Yancheng Outer City, there are three tall earth mounds in the north-south direction, which are called head mounds, belly mounds and foot mounds by local people. There is a very touching story about these three mounds.

It is said that shortly after the election of the monarch caused the election of the city, my wife gave birth to a daughter. Yan Jun named his daughter Miao with the meaning of three rivers. Princess Miao was smart and kind since she was a child. When she was 15 years old, she was like a lotus flower that spent water. She was extremely delicate and charming, and she was the apple of her eye. Princess Miao is hardworking, kind, gentle and beautiful. She is good at sericulture, spinning and weaving, loves piano, chess, calligraphy and painting, and can sing and dance well. She is a good girl with both talents and looks.

The son of Yan, a neighbor who stayed in the city, was ambitious, coveted the territory of the city and coveted Princess Miao, so he colluded with the greedy doctor Mu of the city to defraud the trust of the king and became the son-in-law of the city. One day, Gongziyan stole the princess's name, got the key to the back garden, and stole the treasure of the city, the white jade turtle.

Gongziyan was trying to escape from the city with a white jade turtle in her arms when she happened to meet the princess coming back from the training ground. When the princess saw this, she accused Gongziyan of his despicable behavior and tried to deal with it by military law. Seeing that things were exposed, Gongziyan pretended to be very guilty and asked the princess to forgive him. Then, when the princess was not looking, he pulled out his dagger-Gongziyan's bronze sword penetrated the princess's chest, and his kind heart was stabbed by the evil ruthless sword. The princess didn't have time to call and look at the water and soil that fed her again, so she fell in a pool of blood.

The son stabbed the princess Miao to death in a frenzy, and fled in a hurry. When I heard the news, I rushed back to the city, stopped Yan halfway, and took the white jade turtle after a fight.

When Yan Jun returned to Zicheng, he saw that his daughter was unfortunately killed. He couldn't help crying and was heartbroken, so he accompanied the princess with treasures such as white jade turtle and buried her in the inner wall. I was afraid that someone would steal the treasures from the princess's tomb in the future, so I built three mounds at once during the funeral, making it difficult for others to tell the truth from the falsehood.

Since then, people miss Princess Miao and go to pay homage to her every Qingming Festival. At the same time, take a bucket of soil and add it to the princess grave to cultivate soil and plant trees. Over time, the princess's tomb piled up into three high piers. For the convenience of pointing out, people named these three piers head pier, belly pier and foot pier in turn.

Because people made a very effective wish when they visited the princess's tomb, people later called Princess Miao "Princess Bailing". As a result, a beautiful legend has spread through the ages and is still touching. Yancheng used to be called Yancheng. Legend has it that a long time ago, there was a wicked and greedy rich man who occupied the Yangcheng River. One summer, the rich man hired several fishermen to go fishing in the Yancheng River. The old rich man was afraid that the fishermen would hide it secretly. In addition to sending Zhuang Ding to guard the river, he also personally sat in the town for supervision every three days.

On the eighth day of fishing, a fisherman suddenly fished out a rope from the river. The rope head was as thick as an arm, and it shone golden in the sun, which was particularly dazzling. "Baby!" When the old rich man saw it, he felt great. He hurried to the river and shouted: "Put it down quickly, this is the treasure left by my ancestors, specially put it in the river to make Feng Shui!" " He also threatened fishermen in a serious way. Anyone who casually took this treasure rope would be ruined and bring trouble to the people of the whole city. Hearing this, the fisherman quickly threw the rope into the river.

that night, the old rich man took his son and quietly came to the flooded river by moonlight. They rowed the boat to the place where fishermen fished during the day and put a row of rolling hooks into the river. Soon, the hook caught the rope, and the father and son pulled up hard. Just a short time later, the old rich man bent down eagerly, licked the rope head with his tongue and cried out in surprise: "Sweet, it's gold!" " This discovery made the old rich man and his son ecstatic. The two men completely ignored the backache and weakness of their hands, and pulled up desperately in tandem in the boat.

Pull, pull, pull, pull for a long time, and Jinsuo soon filled the middle cabin of the boat. Strange to say, this gold rope seems endless, and it can't be pulled out anyway. Soon, the front cabin is full, the back cabin is full, and the river has overflowed to the side of the boat. However, the old rich man is in a good mood, so he won't let go or pull and pull. Finally, the boat couldn't bear it, and the river poured into the cabin. The boat sank quickly and sank to the bottom of the river in the blink of an eye. At this time, the old rich man wanted to leave the golden rope and take it up. I didn't know that the gold rope was stuck to his hand and I couldn't shake it off. Soon, the old rich man and his son sank to the bottom of the river and filled their bellies with flooded water-drowned!

it turns out that the purple and gold rope was a thin rope tied to the canoe by the elected king in those days, and then it sank to the bottom of the river when the elected king was defeated. Usually, people can't see anything. Only in the middle of the night on August 15th every year, when the moon is in the sky, can they see waves of golden light soaring into the sky, and no one has ever caught anything. Unfortunately, this golden rope was discovered by the greedy old rich man, and the greedy old rich man was rewarded, and was dragged into the river alive by the golden rope and drowned.

From then on, the city was called "Yancheng". Legend has it that there is a city in the northeast corner of the city. Liu Wang coveted the city for a long time. He knew that it would not be successful to storm the city by force, so he used various ways to please him and win his trust. Later, Yan, the son of Liu Wang, was recruited by Yan Jun as an East Bed Xu.

Not long after, Gongziyan gave Yan Jun an idea to plant dogs and tribules all over the outer wall. The sharp thorns of the dog's tribulus are so dense that even the dog can't get in, which can strengthen the city defense. Hearing this, Mr. Yan thought it was a good idea, so he made the army and the people follow the plan. Seeing that Liu Gongzi's plan was successful, he came up with a second idea, and asked Yan Jun to plant lentils all over the inner wall. He said that lentils were purple and pink when they were in bloom, and the clouds steamed like Xia Wei, which became the natural decorative barrier of the city. Gongziyan's careful thoughts and good means have been praised by the elected monarch.

In hot summer, Yan Jun stood at the head of Zicheng City and watched. He saw lentils blooming and hongxia blossoming. Yan Jun is very happy to think that the picturesque Yancheng will be an indestructible fortress.

However, in winter, the natural fortification on the wall of Tucheng, which is full of sharp thorns, withers, and the lentils and vines, once the wall with green leaves and red flowers, are also yellow. King Liu thought it was time to let Gongziyan steal the white jade turtle, the treasure of the country, and then he sent his troops to attack the city after the defeat.

The dogs, thistles and lentils that were left behind outside the city wall were shot with rockets. Suddenly, the whole city burned into a sea of fire, and the son of Liu Wang took the opportunity to capture the city. After the defeat of Mr. Elect, he ran around and contacted the three neighboring countries. Three days later, he moved heavily and returned to the city of Elect, killing the father and son of Mr. Liu in one fell swoop. "Yaoling Bell", as its name implies, is the place where the bell is rung. It was originally used by the elected monarch to save his life and clear his mind.

It turns out that the Yimou people are in a square country in the north, but they were attacked by the King of Zhou for three times because their ancestors helped them, and they fled here. In order to make the people and future generations remember the lessons of the past and strive for strength, after Xiao Yanjun built the election city, the first thing he did was to choose a place on the inner city hill and hang a bronze bell half a person high on the tree. Every morning and evening, Mr. Yan leads his ministers here to repent for their predecessors' misdeeds and take an oath to become a powerful country.

At this time, the master of ceremonies rings the bronze bell, and the "Dangdang" bell makes people work hard. Later, because of its unique terrain, which runs through the three rivers, it was also used as a peak fire platform for military defense. It is said that at that time, whenever he found the enemy's situation, he rang the bell and sounded the alarm here to warn the whole city to enter a state of readiness. When the enemy attacked the city, it was here that Mr. Yan personally rang the bell and called on the military and civilians to protect the city.

It is found from later archaeology that in the Spring and Autumn Period, these three moats were connected in series, and now there are two river sites in the Spring and Autumn Period below 1.8m of the surface. Among the outer river in the southeast of Yancheng, there is a place called Longquan, also known as Longtan, where the water flow is inexhaustible for many years. According to legend, when the tortoise rescued Yimou from crossing the river, it absorbed enough water from the Yangtze River. After arriving here, I left my stomach full of water here. Who knows, after this water infiltrated into the ground, it actually connected to the Yangtze River. Therefore, the water here is crystal clear, sweet and delicious, completely different from the local water quality.

the junction of this water and the outer river is clear and muddy. The crops watered by this Longquan spring water also grow particularly well, and the rice, sweet potatoes, beans and other foods produced are of high quality and double nutrition.

In the sixth year of Xianfeng in Qing Dynasty (1856), there was a severe drought, with a thousand miles of bare land. At that time, hundreds of rivers dried up and cracked, but the water in the inner and outer rivers of Yancheng was as clear as usual, and the water did not dry up. The reason was that with this Longquan, Yancheng people and neighboring villagers relied on this Longquan spring to tide over the disaster.

There used to be a fairy tale about "Dragon girl playing in the water, jade turtle building a river", and a folk song: "Longquan's water comes from the East China Sea, which will never dry up, sweet and beautiful, nourishing everything on both sides of the strait, and the golden dragon girl is a white jade turtle." According to legend, this was once the place where Princess Miao rowed and splashed.

Yue Fei stationed troops in Yancheng

In the spring of Song Jianyan's fourth year (A.D. 113), Yue Fei led his troops to Yancheng, Changzhou, and controlled Guangde in the south and Liyang in the west, intercepting Yan Hong Zongbi's army to return to the north of the Yangtze River.

Yue Fei organized soldiers to carry out training in a short period of time. Yue Fei was very strict with the army, and the foot soldiers used a hemp of the people to bind grass without authorization, that is, they were beheaded. He paid special attention to training, rushing up hillsides and jumping into trenches, all wearing heavy armor to practice. Yue Fei can launch from left to right, and so can his soldiers.

a well-trained foot soldier will not waver even if he meets the enemy suddenly, and he will act in strict accordance with orders. Yue Dashuai has clear rewards and punishments, cares about soldiers, and often adjusts medicine for the sick; When soldiers go on expeditions, he often sympathizes with their families. Those who died in battle, raise their children. Where there is a reward, it is equally distributed to the subordinates.

yue Fei practices himself and leads a simple life. It is said that he has a famous saying: "Civil servants are not greedy for money, military officers are not afraid of death, and the world will be peaceful." It was when Yancheng sent troops to attack the enemy that he said to the soldiers.

At that time, Jin Bing occupied Liyang, and Yue Fei sent Liu Jing to lead his troops to attack by night, killing 5 enemies, capturing 12 people alive, including Nuzhen, Han 'er Army and the pseudo-Liyang magistrate, and recovering Liyang. Nomads from the south fled in a panic, burning and looting everywhere, and nomads from the south fled to Jin Quan Township, Yixing. Yue Fei led the army to catch up with Yixing and met Jin Bing in the south of Yixing. The two sides fought fiercely in Lily Field. Yue Fei personally led the army to fight the nomads from afar. The military doors of the two sides were facing each other, drums were drumming, people were screaming, and the sound of swords and halberds was like the roar of pines and bamboos, and the dust covered the sky. Yue Fei galloped with a gun, and thousands of athletes became more and more brave. The nomads from the army were defeated and fled to the north in confusion. Yue Fei pursued for a while, and sent Yue Yun to fight regularly.

It is said that Yue Fei led his troops to camp in Yancheng, which is 2 miles away from Changzhou City. Zhang Xian, Wang Gui and Fu Qing led their troops to the south of Qishuyan Bridge, sent Fu Qing and Wang Wan to the west river beach, and made Yue Yun and Zhang Xian lead their troops to pretend to be defeated and ambush the new sluice, sent Li Dao and Yao Zheng to help the east and west, and left Liu Jing to guard the camp. In a few days, Yue Fei led a thousand Yue Jiajun and met Jin Bing in the eastern suburb of Changzhou, and the two sides launched a bloody battle. Suddenly, the sound of drums, ambush, yue fei.
