Brief introduction and detailed information of Canglang Star
All seven works of Canglang Star are pure music. In terms of instrumental music, Liang Hai is in charge of guqin and keyboard, Xi Hui is in charge of guitar, Alai is in charge of bass and organ, and Haixun is in charge of drums and percussion. Different from the traditional instrumental rock, Guqin became the most important role in this album, breaking the inherent tradition of the three traditional pieces, acting as the main performance and constructing the basic framework of music. The album "Star of Canglang" is integrated into the Guqin, which can also be said to be a root-seeking and return of the swamp band. Therefore, this home is not only the ancestral home of people, but also the spiritual hometown of people. The physical album takes the wooden portable disk as the carrier.
The first time I entered the recording studio to record "Star of Canglang" was in early 2008, in Maoming, a coastal city in Guangdong, and also the hometown of bassist Alai. Because of the precedent of live recording, they plan to use a similar way of live performance, and record four people at a time. The theme of the album "Star of Canglang" has been decided before recording. The swamp band rented a basement, made a simple arrangement and rehearsed the recording there. At that time, China was experiencing a snowstorm, and the weather was very cold. Every day, I go into the shed to record, and my fingers are frozen. They learned to warm their fingers with high-voltage light bulbs before playing the piano. This is a very simple self-made recording studio. They installed temporary light bulbs for lighting.
Unfortunately, the guqin part recorded for the first time was not well recorded. However, there are still gains. Members of the Swamp Band rarely put down their work completely and concentrate on rehearsing and writing, which also gives them more time to think about the development direction of the Swamp Band. Later, they spent some time changing the piano, changing the pickup, looking for the right effect and so on. Then they tried to record it once or twice in the rehearsal room. At first I thought it was ok, and I was looking forward to it. Later, David asked Peter Schell to buy Liang Hai a Baxter-Berry 4000, and the recording effect was much better, so I decided to re-record. It was not until October 20 10, 1 1 0, and the year was coming to an end, that they made up their minds again and arranged time for the last recording.
Album tracks, preface tracks, lyrics, composition 1 Cradle Star No Swamp Band? 2 Falling wood, flying pigs, teenagers salvaging stars, 5 voices rushing, 6 passers-by and 7 people swimming in rough waves appreciate the album "The water in rough waves is crystal clear, and you can drown my tassels;" The water in the rough waves is turbid, so you can lick my feet. " This is a poem that people learned in middle school textbooks. Marsh's album "Star of Canglang" failed to live up to the word "Canglang" with strong China traditional literature color. Integrating guqin into instrumental music is the biggest selling point of the album. However, the existence of guqin does not mean that it has ancient rhyme and China tradition. The chemical interaction between Guqin and the three major pieces in Yinji was first tasted in the swamp, and the whole piece was too full and hasty. Even if we want to highlight the word "urgency", it is far from the sense of urgency in the traditional folk music "House of Flying Daggers".
From the first "Cradle Star", the guqin played by Liang Hai revealed a powerful charm. A large number of blank spaces, long artistic conception, rubbings from a distance and the timbre of the effector that Xiaohui is good at are wonderfully kneaded into one piece, which makes people feel like they are in a lake in the south of the Yangtze River. Suddenly, the drums were furious, and the woman playing guqin was suddenly startled. After a glance, she continued to play slowly until the end of the song.
The next "Falling Wood" suddenly took the album to another height. For the first three minutes, Guqin played the leading role, and then Xi Hui's iconic manic guitar sound wall poured down. Bassist Alai and drummer Hai Xun were also doing their layout work very steadily. The whole song is well connected, and the guqin can be put away freely. It's really a good work.
No matter how strong the elements of guqin are, Marsh has never broken away from their excellent patterns accumulated from Metamorphosis, Panic, Planet of the Apes and Future Water World. However, when the theme of the song changed from the future, science and technology, and time to the growth of grass and the flying of warblers in China's ancient poems, it gave people an unprecedented feeling. In Flying Pig, the audience seems to have entered the bizarre world of Shan Hai Jing, and those ancient gods floated in this huge picture 13 minutes.
The boy who salvaged the stars is a story that Marsh is good at telling his ideals and youth. It is not difficult for the audience to hear the beautiful drums jumping in Haixun and the dreamy timbre of those clever keyboards. A guitar riff and guqin in the middle section are really wonderful, and the theme melody at * * * is impressive. After constant washing, the album included the version of "Sound Urgent", and the swamp understood the truth that "the cicada forest is quieter and Tonamiyama is more secluded", instead of blindly pursuing the density of notes, the emotional brewing in the middle of three minutes made the storm more violent.
Passers-by is a novel. In the decomposition of acoustic guitar, the lightness of the organ reminds the audience of scenes such as "the shepherd boy refers to Xinghua Village". The last one, swimming in the rough waves, also uses the effector to create a wonderful sense of space, as if the listener is floating outside the atmosphere in weightlessness and looking at the blue planet from a distance. It's nice to be surrounded by music.
Star of Canglang is an album with "feelings". Although it will be emphasized that it is experimental and avant-garde in the promotion of album copywriting, the audience is no stranger. It seems to have the cultural similarity in people's bones, and it will be awakened at a touch, and then it will float in the music world wrapped in swamps with peace of mind. ?
