2. Couplets
Kitchen God is attached to the wall next to the cooker, facing the bellows. The couplets on both sides are mostly good words from heaven, and the lower bound is safe. The bottom couplet also says auspicious return to the palace. In the middle is the idol of the husband and wife in the kitchen, and two horses are often painted next to the idol as mounts. When offering sacrifices to the stove, offerings should be displayed. The most prominent offering is honeydew melon, and there are twenty-three folk sayings of eating plates.
3. Incense
Cigarettes and incense are all lit by stoves. When they burn out, cigarettes will not continue to burn, and incense will be sacrificed. When you burn incense, you will read auspicious words or prayers in your mouth. The offering is nine bowls of dishes with nine steamed buns on them. Dot the steamed bread with red or vermilion, and insert a red flag on the red dot. Pay attention to the shape of the red flag. Chopsticks are placed next to the bowl, with the big head facing the fairy and the small head facing yourself.
About the custom of kitchen god
Every year on the 24th of the twelfth lunar month, the Kitchen God reports the merits and demerits to the world, which will determine people's fate. Therefore, the north is used to offering sacrifices and burning incense to the Kitchen God on the 23rd night of the twelfth lunar month. The custom in the south is to offer sacrifices to the kitchen owner and burn incense on the evening of the 24th day of the twelfth lunar month. In the old days, there was also a difference between the gentry's family sending stoves on the 23rd and the common people's family sending stoves on the 24th.
To worship the kitchen god, sugar ingots, fried rice sugar, peanut sugar, sesame sugar and glutinous rice dumplings are often used to gag the kitchen god, not to talk about human evils. The world says that heaven speaks well and the next life is safe. After the sacrifice, the old paper horse dedicated to the kitchen god for many years will be removed from the stove and burned with paper ingots to show that the kitchen god is in heaven.
On New Year's Eve, when you receive God, you will receive a gift from Kitchen God. After you worship the Kitchen God, you will post a new paper horse on the kitchen.
