Where is Kannonji in Henan?

There are many places in Kannonji, and Kannonji, which Bian Xiao will introduce today, has the oldest history. Up to now, it has a history of 1000 years! The temple is old, but it is also a bit broken. This is not a good place to buy tickets. Known by the locals as the holy land of Henan temples. This temple is located in Shengwangtai Village, Xiaodian Town, Ruyang County, Luoyang City, Henan Province.

Kannonji is built with its back against Phoenix Mountain, and its halls and pavilions are rising step by step from north to south. Ruhe River in the north is suddenly enlightened, fully practicing the traditional concept of Feng Shui in China, making it a good place with excellent wind pulse. Contrary to other temples that face south, this temple faces south, which is based on Guanyin Bodhisattva's "upside down, loving the sky and being universal". According to folklore, praying here can achieve everything you want.

Therefore, although this temple is not as famous as other ancient temples in Henan, those who seek wealth and luck will not hesitate to travel thousands of miles. Especially on the first and fifteenth day of each year, on the occasion of temple fairs and Guanyin's birthday, hundreds of thousands of tourists and pilgrims from surrounding counties and cities gather here, and the scene is spectacular.

Most importantly, compared with Shaolin Temple, which belongs to Henan Province, the ticket price is as high as 100 yuan. Ruyang Kannonji has been open to the public free of charge, and the incense is voluntary. In addition, regardless of drought and flood, the heart-washing well with consistent water level and two male and female ginkgo trees that have been dependent for thousands of years make this ancient temple full of aura.

So many netizens said: Kannonji is the most like an ideal temple, which looks very old and gives people a sense of sacredness. It is conscience not to ask for a ticket.

The exact construction time of the temple has not been verified, but according to the stone tablets preserved in the temple, the temple was built in the Five Dynasties (907-960 AD) and had begun to take shape in the Song and Qing Dynasties. After the monks gave alms, they gathered skilled craftsmen from all over the country, carefully expanded and carved, and the temple gradually became a scale. By Qingkanggan, the incense reached its peak.

Unfortunately, with the decline of the Qing Dynasty, Kannonji also lost its former elegance. At that time, warlords scuffled, monks fled, and the Millennium temple was destroyed. The Kannonji we see today was rebuilt on the original site by Buddhist master Shi Renkuan in 2002. The whole ancient building complex covers an area of nearly 10000 square meters and has more than 80 halls.

Among them, the remains of ancient buildings can be traced back to the first year of Chongqing in Jin Dynasty (that is, AD 12 12). The bell tower, wing, attic, tablet pavilion and fairy cave on both sides of the central axis are all buildings of the Qing Dynasty.

There are still a large number of murals in the temple, and the characters are lifelike and extremely beautiful. Coupled with well-preserved inscriptions and stone carvings, it can be said that Kannonji is the crystallization of ancient people's wisdom and provides valuable information for studying Buddhist culture and historical changes.

However, perhaps because it is too low-key, although pilgrims gather every year and incense is flourishing, it is really regrettable that outsiders don't know much.
