Located in the northeast of Shantou City, it borders Chenghai District across Waisha River to the northeast, Chao'an District of Chaozhou City to the northwest across Meixi River, Jinping District to the west, and faces the South China Sea to the south and southeast.
Longhu District, named after the Longhu Valley within its territory, is the birthplace of the Shantou Special Economic Zone and the central urban area of Shantou. It is the core area of Shantou Bay New Area and the Overseas Chinese Economic and Cultural Cooperation Pilot Zone. It has developed commerce and logistics. It is a business and trade center in eastern Guangdong, a gathering place for finance, exhibitions, securities, and hotels.
The climate environment of Shantou City
Shantou belongs to the subtropical zone, between the equatorial low pressure zone and the subtropical high pressure zone, and at the southern edge of the northeast trade wind belt. Shantou City is located at the southeastern end of the Eurasian continent, on the west coast of the Pacific Ocean, and on the edge of the South China Sea. Northerly winds often blow in winter, and southerly or southeasterly winds often blow in summer, with obvious monsoon climate characteristics.
