Who blew up the Haizhu Bridge and the specific time?

It was built in December 1929. At that time, the warlord Chen Jitang was in charge of Guangdong and was preparing to build the Haizhu Bridge. It was finally decided that the American Markton Company would undertake the construction. However, the absurd thing is that when the Haizhu Bridge was under construction, Chen Jitang actually listened to the Feng Shui military advisor and had the Haizhu Bridge driven with boy stakes.

The so-called "boy pile" refers to a pair of boys and girls who were drunk and tied to the piles when driving the bridge piers and sunk to the bottom of the river.

The Haizhu Bridge was completed in February 1933. It is said that it was modeled after the Tower Bridge in London, England. The suspension beam in the middle can be opened when a large ship passes by. However, the Haizhu Bridge was blown up twice after it was built.

In 1938, in order to capture the city of Guangzhou as soon as possible, the Japanese army sent planes to bomb Guangzhou. The opening and closing of the Haizhu Bridge was damaged and the Haizhu Bridge was scarred. After the Japanese invaded Guangzhou, they stole the entire equipment on the bridge.

From then on, the suspension beam in the middle of Haizhu Bridge could not be opened and closed at will, and large ships could not pass and could only be anchored at Huangpu Pier. Later, although it was renovated, the opening and closing part of the middle section of the Haizhu Bridge could no longer be restored.

Haizhu Bridge was bombed for the second time at 5 pm on October 14, 1949. At that time, the People's Liberation Army was approaching the city, and Guangzhou was in chaos. Bandits, thieves, and broken soldiers took the opportunity to loot everywhere. The Kuomintang troops stationed in Guangzhou were ordered to move to Hainan Island.

The Kuomintang issued an order of "general retreat, general strike, and general destruction", and the Kuomintang Guangzhou Garrison Command ordered the troops to blow up the Haizhu Bridge. In addition, Tianhe Airport, Baiyun Airport, water plants, power plants and some important factories have all become targets for blasting.

Soon, continuous explosions were heard in the east of Guangzhou. This was the Kuomintang blowing up the Shipai military supplies warehouse and the Huangpu torpedo warehouse.

At 5:55 pm on October 14, there was a violent explosion. The steel structure Haizhu Bridge was blown into two pieces by the Kuomintang. The middle hole steel beam sank, the north and south hole girders were broken, and the southeast bridge pier and All the northwest bridge piers were blown up, and broken iron, broken steel, and cement bricks were scattered in all directions.

An hour later, the People's Liberation Army entered Guangzhou from Shahe into the sunset.
