Feng Shui in Hongyang Town

Speaking of Chaoshan area in Guangdong, many people know that there are Chaozhou City and Shantou City, and local people do business well, but they don't know much about Jieyang City, which belongs to Chaoshan.

Jieyang is a prefecture-level city established in the 1990s. Although it has a lot of tourism resources, many tourists don't know about it because of its low popularity, insufficient publicity and relatively scattered scenic spots, such as Yuanlianyuan Building in Baita Town, Jiedong District, De 'anli in Hongyang Town, Puning City, Yuemei Ancient Village in Dongyuan Town, Jiexi County, etc.

Yuanlian Yuanlou is located in Yuanlian Village, Baita Town, Jiedong District. The building has obvious enclosure style, which is in sharp contrast with the horizontal and vertical enclosure of traditional Chaoshan dwellings.

The circular building is round in the middle and moon-shaped in the periphery. There is a pond in front of the building, which takes into account the daily water use and fire prevention functions, and also means feng shui. It is said that it was deliberately dug when the building was built.

Hakka enclosed houses usually appear in Hakka inhabited areas in mountainous areas, and Chaoshan inhabited areas with relatively flat terrain are rare. It is speculated that the local people were originally Hakka immigrants, and they were gradually assimilated because they lived together in Chaoshan cultural area.

When was the Yuanlian Round House built? Even the locals can't tell the difference. This is a common saying, it has been more than 500 years. Due to the relief of the lion's head on the gate of the paddock, the locals generally used to call it "Lion's Head Village".

Although it is difficult to find a similar building in the local area, even many people in nearby villages don't know the existence of this building, and only tourists interested in humanistic architecture will come here for a special visit.

Although there are not many tourists, the locals are not surprised.

De 'anli, located in Hongyang Town, Puning City, is a building complex jointly founded by Fang Yao, a celebrity in Qing Dynasty, and his brother.

Fang Yao once served as the prefect of Guangdong Navy, with a prominent position.

The De 'anli building complex presents a pattern of "a hundred birds flying towards the phoenix", which is the most complex and spectacular among the traditional houses in Chaoshan.

This building complex is arranged in a regular pattern, which is a bit like an ancient palace. Known as the "small folk palace", it coincides with the saying that "Chaoshan Mountain rises from the palace". "CuO" means house.

Dearnley buildings have a history of 150 years. Although the walls are mottled, they are well preserved and you can see the appearance of the building.

The ancestral temple is the most elegant building in De 'anli, occupying the best position in the village.

Yuemei Ancient Village is located in Dongyuan Town, Jiexi County. Although it is a "provincial historical and cultural village", it is the least well-known of the three unpopular scenic spots.

The ancient village of Yuemei is also a bird's eye view of the phoenix, but the village is basically "empty" and the ruins exude a strong sense of vicissitudes, just like an abandoned film studio.

The village is very quiet, and sometimes we seldom see a tourist all day. It is a good place for foreigners who want to know about Chaoshan culture.

There are two public halls in the ancient village, and the house of 16 is a bit shabby, but the overall style is still there.

The local surname Zhuo belongs to a small surname in Dongyuan Town and even the whole Chaoshan area, but compared with other nearby villages, the traditional houses here are the most complete.

Travel Tips: All three scenic spots are free, and the most convenient transportation is De 'anli. Many shuttle buses in the Pearl River Delta and Chaoshan areas pass through Hongyang Town. The other two places suggest driving or taking a taxi.
