Wu Ding: Random Story of Lion Mountain

Lion Mountain, located in the western suburb of Wuding County, Chuxiong, Yunnan, is named after the mountain crouches like a lion from a distance.

When we arrived at Lion Mountain in Wuding, it was raining lightly.

Stop the car, buy a ticket, and enter the mountain in the rain. Go through an ancient archway with "Gankun Double Trees" and climb the stone steps. The ancient trees in the mountains are towering and misty. Walking in the mountains is like visiting a fairyland. It's nice to have a rainy day. If the weather is clear, the sky will be clear, and the feeling of fairyland will no longer exist.

The plank road into the mountain is winding, and the guardrails on both sides are in the shape of wood, which is colored with moss and green. There are umbrella pavilions everywhere in the mountains, so you can sit down and have a rest when you are tired.

It may be raining, so there are not many tourists. Occasionally passing by the plank road, speaking a strange dialect, I don't know where it came from.

In the hiking mountain, the air is wet, and the sound of rain falling on the leaves, accompanied by crisp birdsong, turns into beautiful notes and countless small comforts.

After a walk, I came to the Peony Garden. Lion Mountain is famous for its peony. It is said that there are more than 40,000 peonies on the mountain, with more than 20 varieties of nine colors/kloc-0, which can be described as the southwest of the pass.

It was particularly shocking to see such a big peony garden for the first time. Beautiful peony in the countryside, colorful and varied, petals stained with light rain, falling flowers with mud fragrance.

On the stone tablet of the Peony Garden, Shao Yong's poem Ode to Peony is engraved: Pin Guan, the peony flower, is the king of this period. Four colors become Baise, and all colors are fragrant.

There are many ancient poems praising peony, and this one is especially representative. Why did the peonies of Pin Guan Fangqun settle down in this southwest mountainous area?

It is said that this is related to an emperor thousands of years ago. The emperor is Zhu Yunwen, the grandson of Zhu Yuanzhang, the great ancestor of the Ming Dynasty. After he was caught by his uncle Judy, he fled to Yunnan on foot to avoid the pursuit of the imperial court. After becoming a monk, he was shaved and hid in Xú Zhēng Temple in Lion Mountain. The biggest peony is planted by himself. The emperor lived in seclusion in the mountains. Besides peony, there are Buddhist temples, couplets, stone tablets and cliffs on the mountain, many of which are related to him. The rich cultural heritage makes Lion Mountain a holy place for meditation and Buddhism. This is also the main reason why Lion Mountain is known as "the first mountain in Southwest China".

In addition to peony, there are hundreds of flowers in Lion Mountain, which bloom all year round, so it is also called "the green pearl in central Yunnan". This season is just right, all kinds of azaleas and cherry blossoms, camellias and Tang Di, corn poppy and chrysanthemums are in full swing. Wandering in the mountains is like being in a sea of flowers, which is pleasing to the eye and refreshing.

There are more than 80 scenic spots on the mountain, which is a combination of natural landscape and human landscape. It is almost a change of scenery, and it is a grand view. Among them, Jiuqu Yellow River, Feiyun Changhong, Yixiaotiankai and Crescent Lake are beautiful and poetic.

On the top of the mountain, the misty Yuhu Lake is under construction, and other tourism projects such as high-altitude cable car, glass plank road, ski resort, ethnic food street and commercial street with resource characteristics are also under construction. What will it be like to come back later? Must be more lively and prosperous?

But now I like Lion Mountain very much. I like its nature, tranquility, mystery and beauty, especially this trip in the rain and fog, which makes people feel like they are in a fairyland and have a deep memory.

In some places, I will come back when I leave, and in some places, I will turn around for a lifetime. With the Lion Mountain, no matter whether I will come again in the future, the scenery will be in my heart after this trip.
