Why is Erhai Lake called Erhai Lake?
Erhai Lake is actually a lake. In ancient times, it was called Ye Yushui, Hull, Ye Yuze, Ye Yuhe, Xi 'er River and Kunmichuan. The name of Erhai Lake "Hai" mainly comes from the customs of Yunnan. Erhai Lake, located in Dali City, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, is the second largest lake in Yunnan after Dianchi Lake, ranking seventh among the freshwater lakes in China. Erhai Lake has seven main functions: water supply, agricultural irrigation, power generation, climate regulation, fishery, shipping and tourism. Erhai Lake belongs to the Lancang River system, with Zibi Lake, East Lake and West Lake in the north, which enter Erhai Lake through Miju River, Rockfall River and Yong 'an River respectively, and it is the main water source of Erhai Lake. There are eighteen streams in Cangshan in the west, which converge in the catchment area on the east slope of Cangshan.
