Basic overview of Min'an Town
Min'an Town, Zhanjiang Development Zone (now Min'an Subdistrict Office). In 1950, it belonged to Dongxiao Special Zone, and in the same year it was changed to Donghai District, Zhanjiang City. In 1952, it was included in Leidong County. In 1958, it was removed from the county and merged into the suburbs. Dongshan and Dongjian were combined into Donghai Commune. In 1959, Min'an Commune was established. In 1983, The district was changed, and in 1987 the district was removed and a town was established. Located at the western end of Donghai Island. It covers an area of 137.8 square kilometers and has a population of 47,000. It is connected to the mainland by the East China Sea Middle Line Highway and Min'an Avenue. It has jurisdiction over 8 village committees including Tiaojiu, Longwan, Zhonghe, Xiwan, Min'an, Wenxi and Xinxun. It is rich in grain, sugar cane and vegetables. Aquatic products include stove crabs, paste crabs, octopus, cuttlefish, prawns, sand shrimps, sandworms, etc. Min'an stove crabs are famous far and wide. Township enterprises include fishing net factories, woven bag factories, firecracker factories, salt farms, and forest farms.
