In the ninth year of Hongwu, Qizhou Prefecture was turned into a state. Guangji belonged to Qizhou Prefecture, Huangzhou Prefecture, Huguang Chief Envoy Department, and soon it was changed to Henan Chief Envoy Department. In the 24th year of Hongwu, it still belonged to Huguang. In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Qizhou at the beginning, and in the third year of Kangxi's reign, it belonged to Huangzhou Prefecture. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, the government was abolished and a road was established, and Guangji belonged to Jianghan Road in Hubei Province. At the beginning of the Republic of China, Guangji still belonged to Jianghan Road. In 1926, Guangji was abolished and directly under the jurisdiction of Hubei Province. In October 1932, a three-level system of province, prefecture, and county was implemented. Guangji belonged to the third line, administration, supervision, inspection, and district. In 1936, it was changed to the second line, administration, supervision, inspection and district. In 1940, it belonged to the Hubei Administrative Office. In November 1945, it belonged to the second administrative, supervisory and inspection district of Hubei Province.
On October 23, 1987, Guangji County was withdrawn and Wuxue City was established, which was named after Wuxue Town, where the county seat is located. It is now managed by the prefecture-level Huanggang City. Meichuan River. Meichuan River is a river in Meichuan Town, the ancient county seat. In the old days, the county magistrate of Guangji used the Meichuan River to pass through the city, but it was not winding and beautiful enough, which was not conducive to Feng Shui. Therefore, it was cut straight and bent, and plum blossoms were planted all along the river, giving it the name Meichuan River.
