Haikou climate characteristics
Located at the northern edge of the low-latitude tropics, it has a tropical ocean climate. Spring is warm with little rain and drought, summer is hot and rainy, autumn has many typhoons and rains, and winter is invaded by cold air currents. There are chills. Geography Haikou City is located at 19°32′-20°05′ north latitude and 110°10′-110°41′ east longitude. It is located in the northern part of Hainan Island, bordering the Qiongzhou Strait to the north, facing Hai'an Town of Guangdong Province 18 nautical miles away; adjacent to Wenchang City to the east; Wenchang City and Ding'an County to the south; and Chengmai County to the west. Haikou City starts from the old village of Dapo Town in the east and ends at Baonan Village in Xixiu Town in the west. The two ends are 60.6 kilometers apart. It starts from Wuche Village in Dapo Town in the south and ends at the sea in the north. The two ends are 62.5 kilometers apart. The city's land area is 2304.84 square kilometers.
Terrain Haikou City is slightly heart-shaped, with gentle terrain. The longest river in Hainan Island, the Nandu River, passes through the middle of Haikou City. The eastern part of the Nandu River tilts slightly from south to north, and the western part of the Nandu River tilts from north to south; the northwest and southeast are higher, the central part of the Nandu River is low and flat, and the north is mostly a small coastal plain. The city's landform is basically divided into the northern coastal plain area, the central riverside terrace area, the eastern and southern platform areas, and the western lava platform area.
