The overall layout of the ancient building complex in Wudang Mountain is centered on the Golden Palace of Tianzhu Peak and radiates to the surroundings with the official road and the ancient Shinto as the axis. . It is 80 kilometers from the stone archway beside the Xiangshui River in the north, 25 kilometers from Yousheng Temple on the Yanchi River in the south, 50 kilometers from Bailang Heilong Temple in the west, and 35 kilometers from Jieshan Temple in the east. On these building lines, a unified design layout is adopted in the royal architectural French style. The entire building is grand in scale, majestic, prominent in theme, and well-organized, forming a perfect whole, which can be called a masterpiece of ancient Chinese architecture.

The Wudang Mountain Ancient Building Group also embodies the Taoist idea of "advocating nature" and maintains the original natural style of Wudang Mountain. The craftsmen designed the layout in accordance with the principles of Zhu Di, the founder of the Ming Dynasty, to "accord its width and narrowness", "set its regulations" and "the mountain itself does not need to be modified at all". The materials used to build Wudang Mountain were not sourced locally but purchased and shipped from Shaanxi, Sichuan and other places, thus protecting the vegetation of Wudang Mountain well. During construction, we made full use of the tall and majestic peaks and the steepness and depth of the rock streams, so that each building unit was built at a suitable location on the peaks, mountains, rocks, and streams, and the spacing and scale were arranged appropriately.
