Brief introduction of Luohan Hall in Lingyin Temple
The 500 Arhat Hall in Lingyin Temple has existed since the Ming Dynasty and was later abandoned. The reconstruction of Luohantang in the early Qing Dynasty had a great influence and was well-known at home and abroad. Luohantang was built in the late 1990s, and its plane is the largest in China at present. In the middle of Luohan Hall is a Buddhist bronze hall dedicated to Manjusri Bodhisattva of Wutai Mountain, Bodhisattva Puxian of Emei Mountain, Guanyin Bodhisattva of Putuo Mountain and Dijiuhua Mountain respectively. In Buddhism, these four bodhisattvas symbolize great wisdom, great merit, great compassion and great wish respectively. The bronze hall is 12 and 62 meters high, with a wingspan of 7 and 77 meters, a bottom area of 5 square meters, triple eaves, vertical facade and exquisite shape, which has been listed in the Guinness Book of Records. "The first indoor bronze temple in the world" is magnificent, because there is a statue of Ji Gong in the Daoji Zen Master Hall, with a broken fan in his right hand, a rosary in his left hand and his right foot resting on an altar. He is a well-known "living Buddha who helps the public" among the people. Starting from 1988, Lingyin Temple was expanded again and built in stages according to the pattern of Qing Dynasty. Three halls have been built: Yao Xi Zen Hall, Lian Deng Hall and Compassion Hall.
