The family courtyard is located in Heiling Village, Xintian County, Yongzhou City, Hunan Province, 14 kilometers away from the county seat. Because the whole village has the surname Long, it is called the Long Family Courtyard. The Longjia Courtyard is the most distinctive existing brick and wood structure complex of the Ming and Qing Dynasties in Yongzhou City.

The Long Family Courtyard is built on the mountain and is surrounded by mountains on three sides. The gatehouse entering the village has a bit of historical vicissitudes, with exquisite architectural structure and carvings.

The ancestors of the Long Family Courtyard organically integrated the essence of Confucianism’s harmony between heaven, earth and man, environmental science and architectural planning into every corner of the Long Family Courtyard.

The courtyard is located halfway up the mountain in the middle of Daguanling. The entire compound faces southwest to northeast, and is in the middle of a mountain. There is an ancient castle ruins one kilometer away from the back mountain. The surname Long moved here and did not start to prosper until the late Ming Dynasty.

The villagers are descendants of Long Bogao, the prefect of Lingling in the early Eastern Han Dynasty. They moved here from Lingling around the Yuanfeng period of Emperor Shenzong of the Song Dynasty. It has a history of more than 930 years.

There are 48 existing buildings, with typical Shonan characteristics. They are all made of blue bricks with clear water walls, small green tiles, hard tops with wind and fire walls, pavilions, exquisite wood carvings, gorgeous paintings, and dignified screen walls. Rustic.

To the left of the village is Qinglong Mountain, which stretches for dozens of miles and is as green as a green dragon. The head of the dragon is in the Dolomites of Ningyuan County, which is adjacent to Xintian County. The mouth of the rock resembles the mouth of a dragon, and the tail of the dragon is in Maoli Township, Xintian County. Qinglong Peak has green shrubs on the mountain that sway in the wind from time to time, resembling a dragon's tail.

To the right of the village is Baihu Mountain, a steep mountain with an ancient castle on the top, staring at it for dozens of kilometers in radius. It is consistent with the saying of "green dragon on the left and white tiger on the right" in traditional Chinese Feng Shui.

"Sitting in the hall and listening to books", "Danfeng Chaoyang", "Fishing in the pavilion", "Double beads chasing the dynasty", "Lion Watchtower", "Five generations under the same roof", "Xiujian Hidden Dragon", "Gourd and Dawn Moon" are one of the eight ancient scenes in the Long Family Courtyard. Even after thousands of years, it is still a beautiful scene in all four seasons. The four seasons have different charms and charm.

These residential houses and historic sites are located in geomantic treasures. They are ingeniously designed, well-made, extraordinary in style and charm.

The village is covered with camphor trees all day long, and the ancient cypresses are green. There are 118 ancient trees, ranging in age from 300 to 1,000 years old.

The most distinctive thing is the couplet on the door wall of the building. The font is beautiful and elegant, and the meaning pursues tranquility and nature, returning to simplicity. One of the couplets quite reflects the owner's elegant aspirations. The couplet says, "I live in the same house as Mr. Jingjie, and my family has the style of being the prefect of Lingling."
