Climb Guanyin Mountain

On the morning of November 30th, senior brothers Hengrui and Ahua and I accompanied our monk master Yanshi to climb Guanyin Mountain to pay homage to the Guanyin Temple on the top of the mountain.

At eight o'clock in the morning, they arrived at the gate of the community first, bought two large cabbages from the vegetable farmer who set up a street stall, and brought them to Guanyin Temple to support the master in the temple.

Master Yanshi and Brother Ahua walked very fast. Brother Hengyue and I were following behind. As they walked, they crushed the snacks she brought and spread them to both sides of the road to give food to all living beings.

Master Yanshi climbs the mountain very briskly. People say that Master Yanshi is over 80 years old, but I don’t think he looks like an old man. His appearance and spirit are that of a middle-aged man in his forties or fifties, without any signs of aging. He walked the fastest among the four of us. By the time we reached the top of the mountain, he had already made a big circle here.

The people in Guanyin Temple that day were the most I had ever seen. The lay people kept pouring up to the top of the mountain. Everyone was carrying various things to support the master, and some even carried thermos bottles. Contains porridge for the master.

It turned out that that day was the last day of the Liang Huang Bao Repentance Ceremony held by Guanyin Temple. Unfortunately, I didn’t know about it in advance, otherwise I would have come to attend.

There is a silly little black dog called King Kong in Guanyin Temple, which looks like a little black bear, with thick and black hair. Whenever he sees a layman coming up the mountain from afar, he will run down dozens of steps to greet him, his tail wagging like a rattle. He is very familiar with some of the laymen who come often, and will circle around at their feet. Have fun.

There are four resident monks in Guanyin Temple. It is usually quiet. Due to its remote location, not many people come, but some people come to kowtow in the morning. I often go to climb this mountain. When I go up the mountain in the morning, I always encounter people who have gone to the temple to kowtow before coming down.

Although it is small in scale, it is well-known and people often drive to worship from other places. The masters in the temple were originally from Longxing Temple in Longgang. Later, after Longxing Temple was taken over by the famous Xianhu Hongfa Temple, Longxing Temple was stationed with masters from Hongfa Temple. The original masters were transferred to Guanyin Temple, and they became familiar with each other. Lay Buddhists often come here to make offerings and visit the master.

That day I saw a fair, bespectacled, and tall monk in his twenties, busy in and out of the temple. Master Yanshi said that he originally followed the abbot here in Longxing. Those who worked as volunteers and Dharma protectors in the temple simply became a monk officially after moving here.

We went down to the bottom of the mountain at about ten o'clock and went home to rest. At about eleven o'clock, two senior brothers invited us over for dinner. We took along a pack of knives sent by Teacher Qi Gongzi from the far northeast. When the ecological rice passed by, the senior brother blurted out when he saw it: "Such good rice, give it to the master!" Compared with their sincerity in respecting the Buddha, I felt a little ashamed.

Every time we are together, it is Senior Brother Ahua who cooks and washes the bags. She works quickly and well, much better than me. She once worked as a volunteer in a temple for several years and practiced Excellent craftsmanship in making vegetarian food.

In the afternoon, a few of us drank tea and chatted. Master Yanshi told some strange things he encountered: He once saw eggplants that grew to two stories high like a tree in a layman’s home. In his temple in Lufeng, he planted strange tree grapes and tamarillos several meters high, and he also helped several lay people drive away possessed ghosts.

I have the habit of taking a lunch break. I didn’t take a break after eating that day. I was so sleepy that I felt dizzy. I only heard a general outline of what the master said. Master Yanshi was in very good spirits and kept talking, unlike an 80-year-old man at all.

When he returned home, he said, look at the strange things that Master Yanshi encountered, which are not something ordinary people can see. He should be a senior monk with spiritual practice. People without a certain level of cultivation cannot see it. these scenarios.

I haven’t gone out to play because I caught a cold recently. I feel particularly uncomfortable today, and my back feels sleepy and painful.

In the afternoon, I took advantage of the bright sunshine and exercised for a while. My body was active and the energy that had been held in my body was released. I felt comfortable all over my body.

While we were playing ball, the fat guy we often met when walking saw us coming over. He was dressed very interestingly: his upper body was tightly wrapped in a navy blue down jacket, and he even covered his neck tightly. , a pair of dirty black trousers dangling from his legs, a pair of old rubber slippers on his bare feet, and no socks on.

He greeted us happily, and I asked him: "Are you cold?"

He smiled and opened the front of his down jacket to show us: "Look, I'm cold inside." There is also a piece of clothing.

"

I asked him why he was barefoot and didn't even wear socks. He said that he was not used to wearing socks and was used to wearing socks. I laughed at him: "You don't wear anything underneath, but you wear such a Much, do you call this cold or hot? ”

In fact, this is a very typical way of dressing for Cantonese people. Guangdong is very warm all year round, and I usually wear thin and casual clothes. In winter, my body is not used to wearing too much, and it feels cumbersome and uncomfortable. I am the same now. In this way, it felt uncomfortable to add another piece of clothing, so I eliminated all the clothes I bought in the north and bought velvet trousers. When the weather changes, I wear a pair of these trousers. Long johns and woolen trousers are all thrown into the street as second-hand items. In the box.

Once people take off their shackles and enjoy the freedom, they no longer want to be imprisoned.
