As Emperor Xuan of the Han Dynasty, Liu Xungui was the emperor. Why did he give up marrying the prime minister’s daughter and instead marry the eunuch’s daughter?
It is said that after Han Xuan Emperor Liu Xun ascended the throne, the ministers and ministers began to discuss who should be appointed as queen. Huo Chengjun, the daughter of General Huo Guang, is the aunt of the Queen Mother of Shangguan. She is a typical white, rich and beautiful woman. The ministers are all attracted to her, but they dare not tell her. Therefore, Emperor Xuan of the Han Dynasty issued an edict to seek a sword from his humble days. The ministers knew that he meant "a wife of wretched chaff will not go to court", so they made Xu Pingjun the queen. Why is this? It turned out that not long after Liu Xun was born, he encountered "the disaster of witchcraft".
In the end, Emperor Wu ordered his favorite minister Jiang Chong to be the envoy to investigate the case. Jiang Chong had a dispute with the prince Liu Ju (Liu Xun's grandfather), so he contacted the case master Han Shuo and the eunuch Su Wen. The prince was framed, and Liu Zheng was forced to raise troops. After the defeat, Liu Zheng committed suicide, as did Queen Wei Zifu soon after. Liu Ju's wives, concubines, and children were all killed, leaving only the young Liu Xun. Although Liu Xun was only a few months old, he was still imprisoned in the county prison and received the care of Tingwei Supervisor Bing Ji. Soon, Emperor Wu fell seriously ill, and some Feng Shui masters told Emperor Wu that there was an emperor's spirit in Chang'an Prison. Without saying a word, Emperor Wu sent people to various official prisons in the capital to kill the prisoners. After Bing Ji's death, Liu Xun was secretly hidden. When the amnesty came, Bing Ji sent Liu Xun to his grandmother's house to raise him. Later, after Emperor Wu found out the truth, he issued an edict to foster Liu Xun in Yeting, which was usually a place where palace maids lived and women from criminal family members had no one to work in the palace. However, what made Liu Xun happy was that he was re-entered into the clan registration.
Yeting ordered Zhang He, who was originally a subordinate of Liu Ju, and paid for Liu Xun's education. When he grew up, Zhang He married Xu Pingjun, the daughter of Xu Guanghan, an official in the violent family of Yeting, as his wife. Xu Guanghan was once an attendant of Liu Kun, the king of Ai in Changyi. Later, when he traveled with Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, he mistakenly took someone else's saddle and put it on his own horse. He was convicted of theft by law enforcement agencies and sentenced to death. However, there was a law in the Han Dynasty at that time: death row prisoners could choose castration. Xu Guanghan eventually became an eunuch. Later, Xu Guanghan was sentenced for a crime due to ineffective search and arrest, and was sent to Yeting as a servant, and eventually became an official in the violent chamber. When Liu Xun was in the most difficult time, Xu Pingjun not only did not dislike her husband, but also depended on him for life. After Liu Xun married Xu Pingjun, they gave birth to Liu Shi (Emperor Yuan of Han Dynasty). In 74 BC, Liu Xun was crowned emperor, and Xu Pingjun was named Jieyu. Although Xu Pingjun has been established as the queen, Huo Guang's wife Huo Xian still wants her daughter Chengjun to be the queen. When she heard that Xu Pingjun had just given birth to a daughter, she secretly ordered the female doctor Chun Yuyan to poison the nourishing decoction. Xu Pingjun died of poisoning shortly after taking it. Emperor Xuan of the Han Dynasty was distraught and named her "Queen Gongai".
When Huo Chengjun became the queen, his bad roots were exposed. He was so different from the virtuous Queen Xu. Liu Xun held back. Only a few years later, Huo Guang passed away, and Liu Xun held a state funeral for him. In the third year of Dijie (67 BC), Emperor Xuan of the Han Dynasty made Xu Guanghan, Xu Pingjun's father, the Marquis of Ping'en, and established Liu Shi as the crown prince. Huo Xian gave up and ordered Huo Chengjun to find opportunities to poison Liu Shi, but he failed. In July of the following year, the Huo family attempted a coup, and almost all of the Huo family were killed or committed suicide. Emperor Xuan of the Han Dynasty also deposed Huo Chengjun and soon committed suicide
