Where is Shenyang Xiangyang Temple?
Xiangyang Temple was built in Wanli period of Ming Dynasty, located at Xiushui Lake at the northern foot of Qipanshan Mountain. According to inscriptions and related historical records, Xiangyang Temple, formerly known as Longquan Temple, flourished in the Qing Dynasty. The original temple covers an area of hundreds of acres and is built on the mountain. There are two halls, the last one is dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva, Eighteen Arhats and other Bodhisattvas, all of which are colorful murals. The lower hall is dedicated to the four heavenly kings, and a plaque with the words "Two Peaks and Beautiful Water" is engraved above the door of the hall. In the south of the temple, there is a brick tower and several closed rooms.
Xiangyang Temple was founded in the early Qing Dynasty, when the abbot monk was a Taoist. The Qing emperor Nurhachi heard that Xiangyang Temple was presided over by a monk. He knew that the past could lead to the future. Before he entered the Central Plains, he made a special visit and asked the monks to enlighten him and point out his future. When the Qing emperor Nuerhachi heard about it, he believed it, and his hair color changed, which increased his confidence in leading the Central Plains, thus winning the world in one fell swoop and establishing the Qing Dynasty. Xiangyang Temple became famous and entered modern people.
In the past 300 years, China has experienced ups and downs in the political arena at home and abroad, which can be described as a changeable country. Since ancient times, there has been a saying that "the country is strong, the country is weak, and education is defeated." Xiangyang Temple is no exception. After more than 300 years of ups and downs, it witnessed the rise and fall of Buddhism in this land. Xiangyang Temple was last destroyed in the 1960s.
1995, with the approval of Shenyang municipal government, it was moved from the original site to the shore of Xiuhu Lake at the southern foot of Qipanshan Mountain, and built with the mountain: Shanmen Hall; The left and right slopes are two floors of bell and drum respectively; On one side of the middle tunnel is the ancient Xiang Yangquan, whose water is warm in winter and cool in summer, and its taste is sweet. This is an unpolluted mineral spring well. Ascending the stairs is the Heavenly King Hall; Followed by the Ursa Major Hall; The Heavenly King Hall and the Ursa Major Hall are Guanyin Hall and Dizang Hall respectively, with dozens of Gu Song in the middle, which shows the charm of the ancient temple in the mountains. Behind the Hall of Great Heroes, a multifunctional modern Buddhist scripture building is under construction.
Looking north from Qipanshan Mountain, Xiangyang Temple is built on the mountain, with a magnificent momentum; From north to south, especially from the north shore of Xiuhu Lake to the south shore, the beautiful scenery is reflected and surrounded by pines. The temples and landscapes seem to be the works of landscape painters.
