The Bingling Temple Grottoes were once as famous as the Mogao Grottoes. The entrance fee costs 300 yuan. Is it worth traveling?
For the grotto scenery, I believe the first thing everyone thinks of is Gansu. After all, here is the most famous Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang, which receives countless tourists every year. But in fact, in addition to this grotto in Gansu, there is also a grotto about 40 kilometers southwest of Yongjing County, Linxia. Although it is not very famous, But this grotto plays an important role in the history of Buddhism in my country and has extremely high historical value. It was once as famous as the Mogao Grottoes.
This grotto is the Bingling Temple Grottoes. Many people may have never heard of this grotto, but it is known as the "Encyclopedia of Chinese Grottoes" because of its rich content and wide range of themes. It can be seen that there are things here It’s so valuable, so you won’t regret traveling here.
The Bingling Temple Grottoes were excavated relatively early and were an important part of the Longxi section of the Silk Road at that time. But I don’t know why it is not very famous, so many people don’t know it, so there are not many tourists coming here every year. But if you have been here, you will find that as soon as you enter the scenic spot, you will see the Yellow River on the right. On the left is a beautiful stone forest, so the spectacular scene here is really not something you can see in ordinary scenic spots.
The Bingling Temple Grottoes are also known as "the most scenic spot in the world" and are an excellent Feng Shui treasure land. Of the 183 cave niches, 694 statues and 82 clay sculptures here, 80% are from the Gelug Sect. It's a pity that during the Qing Dynasty, robbers took advantage of the situation and destroyed part of the grotto, causing the grotto to plummet. In addition, due to the long distance here, it was gradually forgotten by everyone until 1963. Only to be discovered again.
But when it was discovered this time, the cave was already covered in bird droppings. In addition, after thousands of years of time, wind and rain, many stone statues here have become incomplete. The most iconic stone statue in this grotto is probably the Maitreya Buddha. It was originally in a state of devastation, but after constant repairs over the years, the Buddha has basically returned to its original appearance.
However, what is unexpected is that as an attraction, this place is not very famous, but the tickets are not cheap, up to 300 yuan. But fortunately, the scenery here is still very good, and it costs 300 yuan. The money is quite worth it.
