Xue Rengui's hometown

Xue Rengui's hometown-Longmen Hejin

Hejin, called Longmen in ancient times, is an ancient county on the Yellow River in the south of Shanxi. On the banks of the Yellow River in Hejin County, there is the famous Yellow River landscape "Three waves in Longmen, a thunder on the flat ground", which is also the place where carp often jump in Longmen. Xue Rengui, a famous soldier in the Tang Dynasty, was a general who jumped out of Hejin Longmen.

Xue Rengui, whose surname is Xue Mingli, whose word is Ren Gui, grew up in Xiucun, ten miles east of Hejin County. He was an out-and-out peasant soldier, and people called him Xue Li in a white robe. On a loess hill to the east of Xiucun, there is Xue Rengui's former residence-Hanyao. The local people said that this loess hill was called Crouching Tiger Hill, and later generations also called it White Tiger Hill. This is because Xue Rengui is famous all over the world because he is good at fighting, and he often wears a white shirt, so people call it White Tiger Hill. It is called the Cold Kiln, because those poor people like Xue Rengui lived there.

The cold kiln is small, and it is about 5 feet high and wide, sitting in the east and west. According to legend, at the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, there was a heatable adobe sleeping platform and a fire-burning stove in the cold kiln. Today, only a small earth cave is left in the south of the cave, and there is a statue of Xue Rengui and his wife sitting in the cave. According to legend, it was made up by later generations to commemorate Xue Rengui.
