Xi’an’s climate
Xi'an has a warm temperate semi-humid continental monsoon climate.
It has four distinct seasons, a mild climate and moderate rainfall. The spring is warm, dry and windy; the summer is hot and rainy, with thunderstorms and windy weather; the autumn is cool, the temperature drops rapidly and autumn showers are obvious; the winter is cold, foggy and less rainy and snowy.
The warm monsoon climate is located between the largest continent, the Asian continent, and the largest ocean, the Pacific Ocean. The thermal properties of the sea and land are significantly different. In summer, the Eurasian continental low pressure is connected, and the subtropical high pressure over the ocean extends westward and northward. The southeast monsoon emanating from the North Pacific subtropical high brings abundant precipitation; in winter, the northwest monsoon emanating from the powerful Mongolian high affects the local area. Because the wind shear meets the requirements of monsoon, it is a monsoon climate.
