Have you ever walked the Dragon King’s Thousand-Step Ladder to the Hongqi Canal in Chashan Mountain and the Donkey Line in Daluoshan Mountain?
Text and picture: Zhang Chongzhen (Hiking on Daluo Mountain in the Ecological Park)
In Daluo Mountain, Wenzhou, there is a canal called "Hongqi Canal". Do you know where it is?
Speaking of water canals in Daluo Mountain, those who often climb Daluo Mountain can always report a few. There is one under Shaozidun Radar Station (Tianhe Diversion Canal), and there is one from Fengtai Reservoir to Dushan Forest Farm. One (Fengtai Mountain Canal), one near Xianyan Xiuliang Temple (Yinkeng Canal), one on the Bashui Ancient Road leading to Jinhe Reservoir (Bashui Canal), and one from Houkeng Reservoir leading to Huachuankeng Qingchi One (houkeng ditch).
So do you know that there is a canal called the Red Flag Canal on Daluo Mountain and which one is it? In fact, it refers to the one between Shizhu Village and Chashan Longwang Reservoir, located on the cliff of Wolong Canyon. Many people think that the Tianhe Canal behind Baijiajian is called the Hongqi Canal. In fact, the Tianhe Canal is the Tianhe Canal, the real Daluoshan Red Flag. The canal refers to the earliest one built, which is the canal in Chashan.
The Hongqi Canal in Chashan is covered with weeds, has collapsed in some places, and is basically abandoned. At the end of the canal, there is a thousand-step ladder, leading down to Longwang Reservoir. As we all know, there are Baishui Thousand-step Staircase, Zheng'ao Thousand-step Staircase and Bashui Thousand-step Staircase in Daluo Mountain, but few people have walked on the Dragon King Thousand-step Staircase in Chashan. On January 9, 2022, the first group of treasures left in Luoshan, China, did not take the usual route. They started from the Five Beautiful Views Garden of Chashan, walked to Zhutou Ridge, climbed the mountain Chonglou, passed through Maotian Reservoir to Panyang, and finally reached Shizhu and walked through the Red Flag Canal. , descending the Dragon King Thousand Steps Ladder, a team of 47 people completed a special experience. Especially since it had been raining in the morning, everyone gathered at Wuxingyuan Garden with determination despite rain or shine. However, when we started to set off, the rain stopped, and God was kind, allowing us to successfully complete the trip to the Tea Mountain Hongqi Canal-Dragon King Thousand Step Staircase.
Take the Chashan Hongqi Canal and start at Shizhu Village. The village is located in the central and western part of Daluo Mountain, with an average altitude of over 500 meters. It has dense forests, criss-crossing streams, and overlapping strange rocks, making it interesting. The "Dragon's Backbone" where it is located is known as the first strange stone landscape in Daluo Mountain. The eighth descendant of the Li family of Dianthus, the descendants of the "King of Hejian" in the Tang Dynasty, moved here to avoid chaos during the Huangchao Uprising. It has been an ancient Daluoshan village for more than 1,100 years.
The smoky Daluo Mountain has a unique scenery. Standing on the Shantang Dam at the entrance of Shizhu Village, a unique stone on the cliff opposite is eye-catching.
The direction pointed by the arrow is the entrance to the Red Flag Canal from the dam. When you go down the steps, you will see a canal, and on the right is the Wolong Canyon.
The water canal that appears on the edge of the cliff is the Hongqi Canal. It was built in the 1950s and extends from Shizhu Shantang to the thousand-step ladder of Longwang Reservoir downstream. The total length should be five to six hundred meters. Domi. The water channel is close to the cliffs and winding. Along the way, you will see a few stones laid across the middle of the water channel. There are also some places where you have to jump into the water channel to continue moving forward. However, the canal has long dried up and there is no water. Although there is no water on the way, The dense thorns make it difficult to travel, but this donkey path makes mountain climbing a lot more fun.
Among the six famous water canals in Daluo Mountain, the longest is the Tianhe Canal and the most dangerous is the Fengtai Mountain Canal. In fact, walking on the Red Flag Canal in front of you is also particularly thrilling. There is an abyss beneath our feet, but the branches and weeds growing on the cliffs and in the crevices of the rocks have alleviated many people's fear of heights, and it doesn't seem that dangerous. But despite this, many teammates who walked through the ditch for the first time still felt intimidated.
Standing on the Hongqi Canal, you can hear the gurgling stream in the canyon below. When the water is fast, it is like a stormy wave crashing on the shore. When the water is slow, it is like a harp and a harp. The sound of the flowing water makes people feel relaxed and happy. Looking to the north from the water channel, the Hongyan peak disappears and appears in the smoke, towering abruptly into the sky, which is particularly spectacular.
Keep walking along the water channel, and a reservoir appears on the lower right. This is the Longwang Reservoir, and the Longwang Temple on the side is completely visible. Due to the bad weather today, the view of Longwang Reservoir and the surrounding scenery is not very clear, but the scene shrouded in smoke is like a fairyland on earth, which is also rare to see. Longwang Reservoir is also a famous scenic spot in Chashan. There is Mouse Tiling next to it, which is the ancient red maple road.
After seeing Longwang Reservoir, continue walking forward and you will find a step trail that goes down almost in a straight line. Because there are dense woods on both sides of the trail, blocking the view in front, you can't see the end. This is the Dragon King's Thousand-Step Staircase in Chashan. There are 6 famous Thousand-step Stairs in Daluo Mountain, but few people have set foot on this Thousand-step Staircase in front of us. Today, there are nearly 50 people in the large army, and only two or three people have ever walked through it.
To truly appreciate this thousand-step ladder, the best place is from the ancient road opposite the reservoir. From there, looking at the cliff here, you can find this thousand-step ladder, which is so high. Hanging on the towering cliff, it is particularly spectacular. However, if you don't pay attention, it is difficult to find that there is a thousand-step ladder here.
I have walked through the Dragon King Thousand Step Staircase several times before, and some of the points are quite dangerous. One place is a section of cliff with no steps. There is a rope tied to the pipe on the side. You have to pull this rope to go down safely.
Although there are steps in several sections of the road, the stones are extremely steep and difficult to walk at all. The only way is to squat down and move down, and you need to be cautious every step of the way. Looking down, you can see the Longwang Reservoir. Such road conditions are a great test for many timid people and people who are afraid of heights. In addition, it rained this morning and it is still hazy with smoke. It is so slippery to walk a thousand steps. Ladders can be a challenge for anyone. But we do not fight uncertain battles. As long as we make adequate safety preparations and lead the large troops to victory from this thousand-step ladder, we are still confident.
When you are tired from walking, take a rest on the Thousand Steps Staircase and look at the scenery. Looking down the mountain, the Longwang Reservoir Dam is like a straight belt connecting two green mountains. The reservoir is like a mirror hidden among the green mountains and trees, and is graceful.
From Shizhu Village to Chashan Longwang Reservoir, most people take the Shuotiling Ancient Trail, and some outdoor travelers also climb Wolong Canyon. The combination of the Hongqi Canal and the Thousand-Step Ladder we took today is definitely a classic donkey route. Of course, this route is only suitable for outdoor mountaineering teams and is not recommended for ordinary tourists. It can be said that among the Daluo Mountain routes, only the combination of Chashan Hongqi Canal and Longwang Thousand-step Ladder is the most perfect combination. If the Red Flag Canal and the Thousand-Step Staircase are renovated, the safety factor will be higher, and I believe more people will use it.
Dragon King Reservoir
"Overcome many difficulties and taste the joy of victory." Several teammates who took this route for the first time used this sentence to describe this event. Looking up at the Thousand-Step Staircase that we just came down from the Longwang Lake, we saw another different scenery. Some teammates also described the Chashan Hongqi Canal and the Dragon King Thousand-step Ladder as “the wildest canal and the most thrilling Thousand-step Ladder in Daluo Mountain”. I think there is no doubt that Hongqi Canal is the wildest Red Flag Canal in Daluo Mountain. Compared with the other thousand-step ladders in Daluoshan, whether it is the safety of the steps or the railings and handrails on the side, the Dragon King Thousand-step Staircase is definitely more thrilling to walk on.
Entering Luofeng Village from Longwang Reservoir, the red maples on the roadside are like fire, dotted with this winter.
Woyun Temple
Starting from Shizhu Village, take the Red Flag Canal down the Thousand Steps Stairs, and then pass through Luofeng Ancient Village and return to Wuxingyuan Garden. This is a very good donkey route. In particular, the combination of the Hongqi Canal and the Thousand-Step Staircase will give people a different experience. However, for ordinary tourists, it is most suitable to take the Shuotiling Trail from Shizhu Village.
