Historical evolution

Luolong means "South Valley" or "Nanchuan" in Tibetan.

The current jurisdiction of Luolong County includes the jurisdiction of the original Luolong sect and Shuodu (also known as Shuodu) sect. During the Tang Dynasty, it was a territory belonging to Tubo. In the Yuan Dynasty, it was subordinate to Marshal Sidu's Mansion, the Xuanwei envoy of Tubo and other roads. In the late Ming Dynasty, it belonged to Changdu Temple. In the third year of the reign of Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty (1725), Emperor Yongzheng gave Luolong Zongguan to the Dalai Lama as an alms place, which was directly under the jurisdiction of the Tibetan local government. Later, because of his meritorious service, the living Buddha Lin went to the mainland to meet the emperor, and the Tibetan local government made Shuodu the governor. The Lolong Dzong is still under the jurisdiction of the Tibetan landlord government, and the Dzong is appointed by the local government every three years.
