Richard's ancient village, Bagua Village, is located on Richard Hill in northern huilong town. Because this mountain looks like a phoenix, it is also called Fenggang. According to the internet, the ancient village was built in the Southern Song Dynasty and its owner was Zhou, so it was originally named Zhouzhuang, with a history of nearly 700 years. Later, in the late Jiading period of the Southern Song Dynasty (12 18- 1224) and the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty (1403- 1424), Su and Cai moved to Fenggang from Nanxiong Zhuji Lane to settle down. After Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, the two surnames, Li and Cai, have been developed and passed down to this day, but the Zhou family has been unable to study them since they moved abroad.
The characteristics of Richard's "Bagua Village" are as follows: the village is built according to the Book of Changes: Gan, Kun, Zhen, Xun, Kan, Li, Gen and Dui Bagua, which look like Bagua. (as shown in figure 1) A gossip table is set on the top of Fenggang, which is the central point of the whole village. From the center of the gossip platform are Taiji Pisces and the gossip representing Yin and Yang. From the Eight Diagrams Terrace to eight directions, the Eight Diagrams (Yang Yao-and Yin Yao-) are arranged as the layout of buildings, forming a circular arc circle, which is distributed in six rows in the east, seven rows in the northeast, eight rows in the south, and 65,438+0,658 in the west and north respectively. Every time the inner circle expands outward, the number of ancient houses is increasing, and there are about 20 circles from inside to outside. The inner ring is about 10 sets, and the outer ring is about 90 sets. There are 15 main lanes, 84 horizontal lanes and 99 * * lanes in the village, forming the "comb layout" of Guangfu Village in Ming Dynasty. In addition to the layout of gossip, Richard village also followed the Taoist concept of Lingnan ancient village in Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, that is, buildings with water as the vein, houses as the wall and stones as the foundation. Water is feng shui, and water is the pulse of life. There is always a pond in front of Lingnan ancient village, with big banyan trees and wells beside it. Bagua village also has eight village entrances, eight ancient banyan trees, a pond and several wells, which fully embodies the style of Lingnan ancient village. Surrounding houses with walls is a pioneering work in Bagua Village. When the ancients opened a village to build a house, they erected a monument, and the people lived in the communities around the village, defending themselves internally and externally, such as Hakka houses. The villagers in Richard did not erect a monument or build a fence, but used the outermost wall of the village as a protective wall, which fully reflected the wisdom of our ancestors. Walking into Bagua Village, stones can be seen everywhere. Inside and outside the gatehouse, the walls, foundation, roadway, steps, leveling, couplets and wells (except Suidefang gatehouse) of the gatehouse are all granite slabs or red sandstone, solid and neat, like the outline of a small town.
There are ancestral halls and wine halls in the ancient houses. Ancestral temples are used to worship international ancestors. On the first and fifteenth day of the first lunar month, major traditional festivals, weddings, funerals and happy events, the villagers gathered in the class, carefully guarding to the end, drinking water and missing their ancestors. The ancestral hall is characterized by gray plastic paintings of volcanic walls (commonly known as pot ears), fishtails and eaves, which embodies the unique architectural style of southern dwellings in Ming and Qing Dynasties. The bar is a place where villagers hold celebrations and banquets. It has a hall, living room, patio, kitchen and storage room. The wall is decorated with wood carvings, gray carvings and murals. , ingenious technology, elegant appearance. For example, Syracuse Wine Hall in Ren Shang and Xingyi Wine Hall in Xingren are antique wine halls.

Under the influence of Confucianism, many people have been trained in the past, such as exploring flowers, being the top scholar and being a scholar. The names of the gatehouses in Richard Village 10 reflect the moral concepts in Yi Zhuan: Renheli, Suiyuanli, Xingrenli, Chunheli, Shangrenli, Juheli, Rourongli, Li Yuxiu, Renhuali and Suidefang, so-called Jiuli Party. These names are simple and elegant, and contain profound Confucian "benevolence"

The most distinctive features are the couplets, gray carvings and blue paintings of the village gatehouse. Walking into Richard village is like walking into an art gallery. There is a flat forehead on each gatehouse, couplets on the downstairs, murals and gray carvings on the gatehouse and under the eaves. Couplets begin with the name of the gatehouse, mostly in four words, such as Xingyi Wine Hall in Ren Li: "Xingyi Renaissance, Wine Hall Renewal." Dongjiangli: "Welcome the New Year to the East and Jiangnan for a century." Meat Lian Li: "Meat Lian's two surnames are harmonious for a hundred years." Wait a minute. The most murals and gray sculptures are landscape figure paintings, which are based on the history and legends of China, such as Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea, Nine Old Paintings, Sanxingdui Archway Photograph, Penglai Wonderland, Longevity in the South Mountain, Birds in the Morning, etc. These murals and gray sculptures have been handed down from generation to generation for a long time, rebuilt from generation to generation, and some of them are modern creations. Villagers in Richard have taken murals and gray sculptures as the necessary conditions for building houses, and many new houses are still built in the traditional style of ancient times, which is almost the same as the old ones.
