This exception may be caused by any of the following conditions:
If this problem occurs after the first restart during Windows installation or after the installation is completed, the computer may not have enough hard disk space to run Windows XP.
The computer's BIOS may not be compatible with Windows XP, or it may need to be updated.
The video adapter driver may not be compatible with Windows XP.
The device driver or system service may be corrupted.
If the problem is related to the Win32k.sys file, the problem may be caused by a third-party remote control program.
Use the following methods to troubleshoot in the listed order:
Method 1. Make sure there is enough hard disk space.
First, make sure you have enough hard disk space. Insufficient hard disk space may cause a stop error.
If you can start the computer using Safe Mode or Recovery Console, please delete all unnecessary temporary files, Internet cache files, program backup files and files (. Chk file) contains saved file fragments generated by disk scanning. You can also install Windows XP on another hard disk with more free space.
If the computer cannot be started, please go to the next method to update the BIOS of the computer.
Method two. Update the BIOS of the computer.
If freeing up hard disk space does not solve the problem, you may need to update the BIOS. Use the hardware and software vendor contact information articles listed in the reference section to contact the computer manufacturer for the latest BIOS update.
Note: When updating the BIOS, it may be necessary to temporarily disable BIOS memory options, such as caching or shadow operations.
Method 3: Disable or update the device driver.
If the BIOS has been successfully updated, but the problem persists, you may need to update or disable the video adapter driver on your computer. Follow these steps to troubleshoot the video adapter driver:
If the name of the driver is listed in the stop error message, disable or delete the driver.
If this error occurs during startup and the system partition uses NTFS file system, you can rename or delete the problematic driver in safe mode.
If you need to use this driver when starting the system in safe mode, you must use the recovery console to start the computer.
If the stop error message does not specify a driver, please update the video adapter driver to the latest version.
Disable or remove all recently added drivers or services.
Method four. Delete unsigned drivers.
If the video adapter driver has been updated, but the problem still exists, or Windows cannot start in safe mode, the problem may be caused by other unsigned drivers. Delete all drivers that are not digitally signed by Microsoft.
Method 5: Delete all third-party drivers.
You may not be sure which third-party driver is causing the problem. If the problem is not solved after deleting unsigned drivers, please try to move all third-party driver files from the %Windir%\System32\Drivers folder to another location. Follow these steps to move third-party driver files:
Step 1: Start the computer with the recovery console; If you have performed a parallel Windows installation, you can also start your computer from another Windows installation.
Step 2: Create a temporary folder to store driver files. For example, you can create the folder c:\DriverTemp.
Step three. Move all Windows XP files from the %Windir%\System32\Drivers folder to the temporary folder created in step 2.
Warning: If your computer relies on third-party IDE or SCSI controller drivers to run normally, you must identify these driver files and save them in the %Windir%\System32\Drivers folder.
Restart the computer.
Continue installing Windows. You can add the driver files back to your computer one by one to identify the problematic drivers.
Method 6: Delete the third-party remote control service
If the problem still exists after using the above method, and the Stop error message contains the file name of Win32k.sys instead of the file name of the driver, the problem may be caused by a third-party remote control program. To remove this service, use the recovery console to start the computer, and then delete the third-party remote control service file.
