Xingyang City is located in the west of Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, 15 kilometers away from the central city of Zhengzhou, at 34°36′-34°59′ north latitude and 113°7′-113° east longitude. 30′, located at the intersection of the Yellow River Basin and the Huaihe River Basin, and at the boundary between the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River.

In the twenty-sixth year of the First Emperor of Qin (221 BC), after the establishment of the Qin Dynasty, a county was established in Xingyang and Sanchuan County was established here. During the Western Han Dynasty, Sanchuan County was changed to Henan County. In December 1961, it returned to Kaifeng Prefecture. In 1971, it was once again placed under the jurisdiction of Zhengzhou City. In April 1994, Xingyang was removed from the county and established as a city. As of June 2020, Xingyang City has jurisdiction over 2 streets, 11 towns, and 1 township. The Municipal People's Government is located at No. 32 Suohe Road.
