The total area of Chaoyin Temple is about 90 mu, and the total construction area (Phase I) is about 1.4 million square meters. According to the planning and construction of the royal temples in the Ming Dynasty, and following the traditional architectural layout of the temples, the Shanmen Hall, the Tianwang Hall, the Daxiong Hall, the Guanyin Hall and the Tibetan Scripture Building with the yellow tile red wall were successively built on the central axis. Liu Xian Pavilion, Fatang Hall, Ancestral Hall, Dizang Hall, Pu Xian Hall, Manjusri Hall and Songzi Hall with grey tiles and red walls were built on the north and south sides respectively. The living area has a hall for fasting, a hall for chanting Buddha and a squatter house. The whole temple has exquisite design, rigorous layout, exquisite architecture, fine workmanship, cornices and arches, and gold ornaments. The main building of Chaoyin Temple faces the sea, and between the mountain gate and Haihe River is Guanyin Square with a wide view, which enshrines three stone carvings of Guanyin. The overall height of the icon is 19.9 meters, and the whole body is carved from granite stone. On the front, Guanyin holds a water bottle, on the right, a boy, and on the left, Guanyin holds a treasure ball, which symbolizes the image of mercy and compassion of Guanyin Bodhisattva and means "compassion and wisdom". Climbing up the stairs from the square, you will enter the Shanmen Hall, where Maitreya, who smiles kindly, is enshrined on the front and Bodhisattva Wei Tuo is enshrined on the back, standing tall and imposing. In the south of Shanmen Temple, the original Liu Xian Pavilion remains. It is 3.5 meters high and 2.7 meters wide. It has an octagonal cornice with a statue of Liu Xian in it. For hundreds of years, people in Dagu have been told by word of mouth that Liu Xian is the protector of Guanyin Bodhisattva. People respect Liu Xian as the custodian of Chaoyin Temple. It is said that Liu Xian of Chaoyin Temple is a miraculous and blessed man, but he is a heavy drinker. People often come to the temple to pay tribute to Liu Xian. Behind the Shanmen Temple is Tianwang Temple, which is dedicated to the statues of four heavenly kings, respectively symbolizing the favorable weather. Walking through the king's hall, you will see the Ursa Mahayana Hall, which is dedicated to Sakyamuni Buddha and his two disciples Ananda and Ye Jia. Every morning and evening classes and major Buddhist ceremonies in the temple are held here. Every time the Dharma will be held, the instruments will burst, and the mantras will be loud and clear, echoing in the majestic hall, washing away the filth of all beings and showing incomparable charm and auspiciousness. Behind the Hall of Great Heroes is the Guanyin Hall, which is dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva, the original Buddha of Chaoyin Temple. There is a big roof in the middle of the hall, surrounded by four small roofs, each with a golden roof. Under the sunshine, it shines brightly, and under the blue sky and white clouds, it is more solemn and majestic. After worshipping Guanyin Bodhisattva, believers can come to the Tibetan Scripture Building, which enshrines the nirvana of Sakyamuni Buddha, as well as a variety of Buddhist classics and the Heart Sutra copied by believers, which "goes deep into the scriptures and is as wise as the sea". In the halls on the north and south sides of the temple, the Dragon King Bodhisattva, Grandma Wang San, Liu Xian Bodhisattva, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, Pupu Xianxian, Manjusri Bodhisattva and Songzi Bodhisattva are enshrined respectively. Manjusri Pu Xian, Bodhisattva Samantabhadra and Bodhisattva Earth-Tibet have also responded to the sincere prayers of good men and women, attracting believers from all over the world to worship in the temple. In the long-term historical development, Kannonji, Chaoyin Temple, constantly absorbed and created local folk culture through entertaining, and finally formed a large-scale characteristic temple fair-Guanyin Christmas Temple Fair in Chaoyin Temple, which integrates Buddhism and folk customs. During the Guanyin Temple Fair in Chaoyin Temple, the temple will hold a grand blessing ceremony in accordance with strict etiquette regulations. Every year, more than 200,000 believers gather in Chaoyin Temple to eat Luohanzhai, to celebrate Jiaozi's birthday and Guanyin's happy face, to celebrate Guanyin Bodhisattva's birthday, and to sincerely pray for family members' peace, health and well-being for one year.
