The ancient city wall of Hululing

To the south of the foot of the mountain today, next to the pumping tower of the county water plant, five relatively complete sections of the ancient city wall from the Ming Dynasty still remain. The total length of the city wall is 84.1 meters. In 1985, it was listed as a county-level cultural relic protection unit. According to the old people of Boluo City, the place where the east end of the city wall was built to the middle line of Calabash Ridge was commonly known as the "Full Silk Hanging Calabash". Later, the city wall went around the Calabash Mountain, enclosing the entire mountain inside the wall, so it was called "Taibao (Pocket) Calabash". There are two theories for the reason: one is for the need of defense; the other is that in the late Ming Dynasty, a foreigner who was the magistrate of Boluo County saw that many Boluo people were successful in their official career, and he was heartbroken. Jealousy, according to the Feng Shui master's plan, rebuilt the city wall and changed the "gold wire hanging gourd" to "bag gourd" in an attempt to destroy Boluo Feng Shui. The county cultural relics census team conducted an on-site investigation of the city wall ruins and confirmed that the city wall was indeed built several times, and the final city wall was around Hulu Mountain in the east and the mouth of Rongxi River in the west.
