Overview of Pengxi Village

The villagers in Pengxi are mainly Xie family members, with a small number of Li family members living there. The Xie family in the Nanxi River Basin are all descendants of famous families, and their distant ancestor is Xie Lingyun, a famous landscape poet in ancient times.

During the Eastern Jin Dynasty, the Xie family was not only a prominent family for a century, but also contributed to the revival of the Chinese nation. After Liu Yu usurped the power of the Sima family and attacked the old family, Xie Lingyun became politically frustrated. In the third year of Yongchu reign of Emperor Wu of the Southern Song Dynasty (AD 422), 38-year-old Xie Lingyun was exiled as the prefect of Yongjia. After arriving in Yongjia, Xie Lingyun was depressed and devoted himself to the mountains and rivers instead of political affairs. The original biography of "Song Shu" records: "The county has famous mountains and rivers, which Ling Yunsu loves. He has no ambition to go out and defend, so he wanders around all over the counties. After more than ten days, the people no longer care about him."

The beautiful landscape of Nanxi River must have left a deep impression on Xie Lingyun. In the 10th year of Yuanjia (433 AD), Emperor Wen of the Song Dynasty, after Xie Lingyun was killed in Guangzhou, his descendants returned to Yongjia with his coffin, and built the Tomb and settled in Wenzhou City. During the Northern Song Dynasty, descendants of the Xie family returned to the Hesheng River to build villages and villages, fulfilling Xie Lingyun's dream of living in seclusion in the mountains and rivers six hundred years ago.

The water outlet of Pengxi Village is called Xiagangtou. In order to control the flood washed by Hesheng River, the villagers planted an ancient camphor tree with towering qiu trunks and built a gate under the ancient camphor tree. The Imperial Temple is used to pray for blessings, ward off evil spirits, and ensure the safety of the whole village. The small square in front of the Guandi Temple is the venue for dragon and lion dances during the four seasons and eight festivals in the village.

In 1985, the village built mechanical plowing roads and blasted rocks. The cliffs and all the plank roads were turned into gravel and dust rolled into Hesheng Creek, filling the deep and quiet pool in the creek bay. A shallow beach.

"The millennium Feng Shui of Pengxi Village has been broken!" I thought, "The ancestors chose Pengxi as a place to live in order to escape from the world, but the desire of future generations is to work hard to get out of this illusory paradise. Chasing worldly pleasures, the Xie clan has gone in the opposite direction after settling here for thousands of years."

Bypassing the Guandi Temple and entering the village, there is a small and simple Kang Le Pavilion at the entrance of the village, which commemorates their ancestors. Xie Lingyun's vernacular architecture has now become a paradise for young people in the village to play cards.

The Feng Shui in Pengxi Village is also very good. To the east of the village is Zhuhu Lake where mountain spring water gathers. In the lake there is Phoenix Island, which is like a green snail. In the southeast of the lake, there is Wenbi Peak, which is exactly the place where "the pen enters the inkstone". ” argument. However, in the past twenty years, the forest around the village has been cleared, and the sediment has fallen with the rain. The "inkstone" dug by the ancestors has long been silted up and turned into a real rice field.

Some old houses in the village are still preserved.

There is a typical "water courtyard" house in the Nanxi River Basin, with three entrances and two courtyards. In the middle of the water courtyard in front is a stone corridor, with two symmetrical pools on both sides of the corridor; In the water courtyard at the back, the entire courtyard is filled with pool water. Under the eaves beside the pool, firewood, straw, and straw are stacked up to the eaves and rafters. This water courtyard mansion was built in the Ming Dynasty. Including the two courtyards on the left and right, there are more than 70 rooms in total. Although it is dilapidated now, four hundred years ago it was one of the best mansions in the countryside.

The most exquisite old house in Pengxi is the "Jinyunshan House" built in the late Qing Dynasty. It has a blue brick gatehouse with a stone plaque that is common in the Jiangnan area. The inscription "Jinyunshanshe" on the door is signed by Zhu Xi, a great scholar of the Southern Song Dynasty. On both sides are stone-carved couplets embodying the traditional teachings of Confucianism, "Loyalty and filial piety keep the family far away, and poetry and books lead the world." There is an exquisite brick-carved wall preserved in the courtyard of "Jinyunshan House", which is a protected cultural relic of Yongjia County. There were originally two symmetrical walls, but the one on the opposite side has been destroyed.

It is said that when Zhu Xi was in charge of the Changping Salt Tea Company on Liangzhe East Road, he visited the Nanxi River to visit local scholars, including Pengxi Village. It turns out that the cliff stone on the cliff of Hesheng River at the entrance of the village is engraved with the two characters "Diaotai" and a poem of five unique poems inscribed by Zhu Xi:

The best for watching fish is Haoshang, and the fishing surpasses Weiyang. Yan Zi Tathagata came here, and it was determined. Forget the Fuchun River.

The four-sentence poem comments on the three super celebrities Zhuangzi, Jiang Ziya and Yan Ziling, and also fully develops the excellent scenic spots at Shuikou of Pengxi Village. But now these are all relics. The cliff carvings at Xiagangtou were turned into smoke and dust by the explosions sixteen years ago, and were lost forever with the clear water of Hesheng River.
