Legend of Laizhou Jade
It is said that one spring, the descendants of the Wangs who visited Dayuanjia Village on the eastern side of Shandong Province married the daughters of Cao in ten Miao villages on the west side of the mountain (now Yong 'an office rural area in Laizhou City). On the second day after the marriage, the new daughter-in-law returned to the door, and the groom helped the bride to the donkey, shouting at the animals and rushing to his father-in-law's house. When I walked to Youyou Mountain, I suddenly found that a phoenix with gorgeous feathers was hovering in the sky, and then landed on the highest hill of Youyou Mountain. I nodded my head a few times to the east and flew away. The young couple told this spectacle to the villagers. After listening to it, an old man said, "The phoenix head faces east, indicating that Laizhou City is a treasure trove of geomantic omen; Phoenix does not fall in a land without treasures. Since it falls in Youyou Mountain, it means that there must be treasures hidden in the mountain. " Hearing this, people immediately took tools and went to the mountains to dig for treasures. Bao didn't dig it, but he dug up some smooth and greasy white stones. Some people named this white stone talc, and others said that this white stone was just some phoenix excrement, and then they threw the excavated stone in the wild.
among the treasure diggers, some ingenious young people saw that these white stones were delicate in texture, soft in hardness, smooth and transparent, so they took them home to carve them, and soon carved some small animals, small flower baskets and vases, and sold them at a good price. Only then did people feel that this is indeed a treasure from the Phoenix, and seeing that this stone resembles Baoyu in shape, nature and quality, they named it "Laizhou Jade" and the sculpture was called "Laizhou Jade Carving". Laizhou also has an alias: Phoenix.
