What season is best for raising silkworm babies?
I. Spring
Spring silkworm is characterized by mild climate and good leaf quality. After the cold weather in winter, some pathogenic bacteria were killed and the environment was clean. Silkworm rearing is easy to obtain high quality and high yield. However, the temperature during sericulture is often low, which can not meet the requirements of sericulture and needs heating. There is a high probability of hot and muggy weather in early June.
Therefore, spring silkworms should be raised as much as possible in order to achieve high quality and high yield; Spring silkworm breeding should not be too late to avoid bad weather in the later period; At the same time, dark fire heating should be carried out in the young silkworm stage. The rearing amount of spring silkworms can be estimated according to 650 grams to 700 grams of mulberries per box.
Second, summer.
Summer sericulture is characterized by rainy season in Jiangsu and Zhejiang sericulture areas, which is easy to form a sultry sericulture environment. Mulberry mainly uses the sparse bud leaves that grow again after summer cutting, and also uses some leaves left over from spring cutting or spring silkworm period. Using summer leaves combined with sparse shoots is beneficial to maintain tree shape.
Due to high temperature and humidity, it is difficult to raise cocoons and the quality of cocoons is poor. Therefore, the rearing of summer silkworms should be properly controlled. Generally, no more than 4 or 5 leaves are picked at the base of new shoots after cutting in summer. If the second autumn silkworm is raised or only the first autumn silkworm is raised, the feeding time should be appropriately postponed.
Matters needing attention in sericulture:
When raising silkworms, you should pay attention to the fact that mulberry leaves are best fresh. Mulberry leaves left at home for at most one night can also be used to feed silkworms, but they are not fresh after a long time. Secondly, it should be noted that mulberry leaves must be cleaned without dust, and at the same time, they should not be eaten by silkworms with dew, nor by mulberry leaves that have not been dried after cleaning.
